ric006
Ahhh I gotcha Ric. I haven't tried it on any of the new models, so I was just going from experience over the years lol. In that case, just buy the relay or do the switch idea. NP when i first tested the 5500 it looked like it worked just by grounding it but when i got into the car whole another ball game then i tried the old relay trick and that didnt work so i said screw it ill buy the microbypass. Trust me im all for saving 20 bucks since i had like six relays laying around ya know and i dont like the PAC to many problems get the actual microbypass
detroitdb
Thank you guys, I forgot to mention I had last years model with the relay, and it would not work on this years model...I installed a toggle I had space for one on my dash and doesent look to bad...thank you all for your advice. I know I can be impatient..lol You need one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3020762# Then do this: 85 - Remote from the head unit 86 - Ground 87 - Ground, connected to pin 86 as a "loop" 30 - Green wire coming from the head unit PAC TR7 ... makes a bypass that works good ,,,its what i use, the switch will work, the difference between a relay and a micro bypass is a two time ground delay chip relay so its time by like 2 seconds to tap the ground twice the bypass is 20 bucks on ebay and a regular relay dont work Ahhh I gotcha Ric. MJJJ1993
I saw this thread a while back and thought I'd add my two cents. I had bought the X5500BHS a couple of weeks back and tried the relay trick but it doesn't work. A friend of mine works at a local shop in town and said that all of the new pioneer models don't work with just the relay anymore because they need 2 pulses of ground on the parking brake wire. They used bypasses that they get from http://www.diybypass.com so I went there and actually just ordered it on Amazon because they had one with Prime for free shipping. It worked on the first shot and has worked for me for the past month. I'd recommend it to anyone. here's the one that I got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EZP84O0
