Joe X
Fifth generation Type Rs work in less net volume than previous generations their spec range tops at 1.5 cubes per chamber and that's what I would recommend if you are going to push full rated or above rated power. caraudionoob
What a coincidence, I'm also building a box for dual 12's Type-R for a friend. Here is what I came up with for it. You might have to tweak the dimensions to fit your vehicle though. You can also do double baffle if you want. What are the dimension you want for your car? Joe can probably help you with it. lilflippy
So ya think a bigger Ported box would be better for the 5th Gen type-r's
caraudionoob
What Bump4life had in the log above is from the old gen Type R, which works well in larger enclosures. You have the 5th gen Type-R's which works better in a bit smaller enclosures.
lilflippy
OK so when going with the manufacturers it's better to going with the biggest ported enclosure that's recommend in this case the 5th Gen type-r is 1.5 cu ft net. Correct?
caraudionoob
It actually depends on how much power you run to it. Say you have a 500w amp, and you want the most output from a 1000w sub, then you go for max or above the recommended size. If you want to run 1500w to a 1000w sub, you go smaller than recommended size because it gives the sub more cone control.
