Wiring multiple subwoofers/speakers together on 1 channel...

Hi, this is just for my knowledge for the future as I don't know what is completely right. I know you are not suppose to mix and match subs and different impedance.

My question is if you wanted to run 32 speakers off of 1 channel, can you hook multiple speakers up using parallel AND series as long as they are the same woofer and impedance and everything? Or is this something that can only be one or the other (series or parallel).

If you can use series and parallel together...then you could in fact use two dual 4 ohm subs to get a final load of 1.6, correct? (8 ohm parallel with 2 ohm)(using 12volt calculator).

More info on top of this is welcomed too.

You can series parallel, but it has to be symmetrical.

2 dual 4 ohm subs is 4-4ohm coils. You can:

Wire all 4 coils in parallel for 1 ohm.

Wire the coils on each sub on series, then parallel the two subs for 4 ohms.

Series all 4 coils for 16 ohms.

When you mix a sub with the coils in series with a sub with the coils in parallel, the two subs will not receive the same amount of power.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

Alright, thanks guys. It would be awesome if that worked...many more wiring options that way, but I guess you can't have it all. :sigh:
