Battery test thread

Recommended Posts

snafu, you are always taking testing to a whole new step. for that everyone in the car audio industry should thank you.

the testing might not be 100% but the simple fact that it is more info that was not available to us before hand is nice. as a suggestion, maybe you should test each battery more then once and if possible try to test several of the same battery and take the average from them. it would help it be more accurate.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

Well, since you're collecting voltage readings, I would say those should be incredibly accurate otherwise you really wouldn't want to report them . . .

In addition, anyone that were to draw a conclusion that the Yellow Top Optima was a poor quality battery because the side post melted may very well be drawing an incorrect conclusion. Why, you ask? Because the resistance I'm speaking of generates heat. Can you be absolutely certain that wasn't a factor?

Now this I comppletly agree with. On the other sites thread I wrote that we had decided to retest the Optima gr34 using the top post. We also wrote that the side terminals were probably the reason for the failure. However when FLwatersaver brought the info over to this forum he just copy and pasted the test data and not the other stuff written in between.

We acctually did test 3 XS power D3100 and this is the average of the 3. We also tested 2 XS XP3000s but I lost the test results for the first one. Again I wish I had a few of each battery on tap but I dont.

Its all good. I don't mind a debate when its filled with acctual knowledge and information like snafu has. None of his suggestions are wrong or ignorant so it doesn't bother me (just makes it harder to write better replies lol).

yeah just test as many as you can get and keep taking the average.

The results from what I see and have read mean jack shit once you put the battery in a car and put a ampilifer load on it, not a carbon pile load lol. Sorry it is clear to me but must not be to others except snafu(Tony). Thanks for explaining that out tony cuz if you didn't I was going to.
