Cleaning out the pa cabs and subs, also fixing my messed up terminal cups and the previous owners "custom crossover work" that is non existant. pics to come. Ps no shit this is the budget dont care if the pa's get trashed party system... they have done 5 or so 300 people so it *works.. Pics to come

Im a broke student. still manage to have a pretty good system though.. (at least i think)

Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at.

I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry to the whole forum for my late reply, my laptop was having dificulties..

the main cabinets were in bad condition, most of the dampening materiall had fallen off,

heres a pic: http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t532/Ian_Stith/Case_zpsb027b7c2.jpg

you shouldnt be able to see any of the wood though much was visible, i reglued on the origionall pannels, ended up good.

The speaker cabinets were in terible condition when i origionally purchased them from the origional owner who put over 500rms into 350rms cabs.... because of this, one cabinet had a siezed woofer and one with its surround being torn off... here is a sad picture:http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t532/Ian_Stith/woofers-2_zps8dedfa41.jpg

that brings up two questions, has anyone ever turned a siezed woofer into a passive radiator, and where is a good place to get acordian surround kit?

Also from that cabinet, the crappy horn died, it was a motorola powerline tweeter.. :http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t532/Ian_Stith/tweeter-2_zps87f45f8e.jpg

On the good cabinet, both of the 1/4 slots had been ripped clean out... :http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t532/Ian_Stith/terminal_zps13b551c6.jpg

it was a $5 fix from radio shack but many people i know have had it happen to them, bad luck, bad parts, or what i dont know...

here is a picture of the inside of my $40 sub cabinets :http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t532/Ian_Stith/sub-1_zpsc1b54260.jpg they somehow sucked dirt up through all of the port... but a simple removing of the driver and a shop vac fixed that problem...

and for shits and gigles here is a picture of all of my woofers: http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t532/Ian_Stith/woofers_zpse4e5ed2e.jpg

subs in the middle, woofers on the outside...

now that is sad, i had to clean my gear before it got to that point, the only part where the dust really built up was on the fan at the back of the amp, its a QSC 1310

Where was the refit at? a club or something? Mind me asking what you do with the old amps and equipment (like that dbx processor)?

i reused two of the amps becaus the owner decided he wanted to run some speakers outside, so the dbx also went out there ( well it was used for the amps out there)

the third amp is just sitting on my shelf with my other 50 odd amps lol he didnt want the 'old shit' lying around so i asked if i could take it for him... WIN!

Those "Crowns" are work horses, they can take some abuse. We rewired a strip club that was running 2 of those for a multitude of mismatched and cobbled together speakers and subwoofers. I think we resold them to a church lol. Irony

indeed they are! i love them, i can throw them on anything and im good to go. one of my 18u racks has had 8 of the xls2500's in it (i dont normally put this many amps in a single tall rack) and it weighs nothing compared to my rack that has 3 labs in it! lol

Gotta love free stuff. A friend of mine renewed an install and they had some old Macro Techs that were in damn near new shape. They gave them to him and he still uses them today. Lucky bastard lol.
