Okay, now here is where I messed up. I should have started on the wall, but instead, I went back to the doors. See, I had originally started building the door panels back in Jan 2012, but stopped because I got stuck. So at this point, I felt the doors were the hardest part left, so I wanted to do them first. Bad thinking, I should have done the wall first. But oh well, they are done now, and I am VERY happy with how they turned out.

So here is the door panel build from then to now. I'll try to keep it in order.

:repost:
Okay, so first order of business will be the door panels. This is what they look like to start with.

405190_315975988438400_955469241_n.jpg

This will be going into each door!

423874_315575145145151_1973467731_n.jpg

8" slim mount subs

428598_315575238478475_2070527787_n.jpg

2 - 6.5" component speakers

430459_315575385145127_1865698014_n.jpg

And a set of 5.25" to finish them off. So each door will look something like this:

547886_381388888563776_1414285302_n.jpg

So first thing we need are some MDF rings! This makes it way easier!

395649_315576295145036_572149076_n.jpg

And now we got some rings!

Okay, so next it's time to get some wood. So let's see what the local hardware store has.

427169_315975505105115_2088467852_n.jpg

There we go! Need some of this.

402423_315975568438442_1515097013_n.jpg

409055_315975621771770_1166153434_n.jpg

And about 5 sheets of this

423157_315975688438430_1336957440_n.jpg

418192_315975761771756_1694444250_n.jpg

So then I had to cut down the sheet of 1/4" into 4 - 2ft x 4ft pieces

417357_315976125105053_1915888854_n.jpg

So the next step is to separate the inside of the door panel from the outside. This was no fun at all!!! Took me several hours with a heat gun.

Plastic welds SUCK!!!

One down, one to go

419788_315976615105004_1710319971_n.jpg

No turning back now!

So then I use the inner piece as a template to cut out the new piece

420248_315976735104992_1149922549_n.jpg

Also, had to clean up the inside of the outer panel.

422052_315977108438288_421123551_n.jpg

And this is what I was shooting for!

426408_315976808438318_1917026447_n.jpg

Something like this, except with 5.25's instead of tweets up top.

404222_315976941771638_1117373410_n.jpg

And that is where I quit for the day! Tomorrow, I'll figure out how to mount the new panel to the door, and how to keep the armrest while doing so!
Thanks for checkin' out my work! Stay tuned for much, much more to come!

So I started from scratch on my doors, cause the other panels I had started were too thin, and needed too much work.

First I went and bought some 5/8" five layer ply. Should be a little stronger than the 1/4" "paneling" I was trying to use.

545018_381387621897236_747139370_n.jpg

So I used the first panels I made for a template

543627_381387748563890_437531889_n.jpg

And after several hours, here is what I came up with.
Each panel had to be built up to set level in the door, and cut out for the door handle bar that goes up behind them.

And the front side
