meade916
I chose this spot to run the wire because i can't get the 1/0 too close to the kick panels or i wont be able to put them in. It is TIGHT in that area! The seat brackets allow for me to do this as there is plenty of room. Gotta love the oldschools for that! Speaker wire for the Kick panels is ran along the sill, nice and flat. I put male/female spade connectors on the kick panels so i can take them out and put them in without having to cut the wire ever. Just unplug and go! Using male/female offset makes it so i can't get them wrong, even on accident. AHHHHHH NEW CARPET! Kicks look much better on some new carpet instead of teh old dingy ass shit. a blurry view of both kick panels at the same time...they blend in nicely...almost looks stock. meade916
Now on to the engine compartment. This is getting a new Mechman Billet alternator soon but i needed to knock out the wiring regardless... I always JUST SAY NO to battery isolators.....this thing has to go! Pretty typical that the SHOP didn't even install the big 3 for him....matter of fact i couldn't even find an engine ground! So the guy who installed the motor must have missed that too. I bet the car runs even better when i get done...1/0 grounds on the way! All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
where to get started....ok you know me, you know i solder almost EVERYTHING. It's fun to solder but it sucks to do it when the wire is already installed. Sometimes you have to do this because the wire is trimmed to exact fitment. Rockford Fosgate 1/0 Ring Terminals Solder up! I am a chief, but i have no indians. The vice grip is my helper today. Fully wicked....almost feels like there is a metal bar for an inch past the terminal. SOLID! Soldering OUTSIDE of the car, on the bench, is much easier. In my box of goodies, i found these....Moke SCORES again LOL All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
New piece of 3/4" Plexi. The opening is only 8" wide x 24...should be plenty. Much better then before. Now i gotta do some trim work around it to make it look good since it will be sticking up past where the original window was. This piece goes over the plexi and inside the first frame....so you won't be able to see any fasteners. meade916
In case you have not figured it out yet, this entire thing will be pieced together with wood, and anything that can't be made of wood will be filled in with fiberglass. The rough parts of the wood will be body filled, sanded, and look delightful when done. I am going to also 45 the sides of the plexi window trim, just not that important right now. Getting it all to go into the car and back out (removable) and still look good is my first priority. Then i will doll up the rest of the stuff that isn't in my way right now. Ran out of blades on my Bosch jigsaw, had to bust out the back up. Some fleece on the sides with a nice stretch should cover that hole nicely. HMMMMMM wait 20 minutes (or more) in between coats/grinding....or wait 1 minute. SMD SunFlash FTW. The fleece was soaked in SunFlash resin...i had gloves on and didn't take pics....but after i did that, i put a layer or 2 of fiberglass over the top.
