Need help with BL 18 box! (Calling you out Joe X)

Recommended Posts

So I just got a FI BL 18 and I need some advise/designs for a box. I have a 2003 explorer sport and have a decent amount of space in the back. The max I wanna go with outer dimensions is 41" x 20" x 25" (width x height x depth). I was thinking sub on top on passenger side and the port facing the back hatch on the driver side, uned to 30 hz. Let me know if you think otherwise. I'm all ears!

One more thing...if anyone has designs for a box please feel free share! :D

Here is a suggestion on around rated power, read all the notes below the pic:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 33 Hz
Vb = 6.4 ft^3

External Height = 20 in
External Width = 41 in
External Depth = 23.125 in

Port Width = 6 1/4 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.
* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 41 x 23 1/8

Left & Right Sides =
Side 1 = 21 5/8 x 17 3/4
Side 2 = 22 3/8 x 17 3/4

Front = 34 x 17 3/4

Back = 41 x 17 3/4

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 15 3/8 x 17 3/4
Extension = 7 7/8 x 17 3/4

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Important notes:

- All boxes built outside the vehicle need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.

- This box should be operated around subwoofer(s) rated power. If that´s not the case, let me know.

- The port needs 6 1/4" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.

- Setting your amp subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested.

Okay so kinda my fault.....but I forgot to mention I'm running it off a AQ2200 at 0.7 ohm so it's at least 2200w (700 more than subs rated power). I could tell something wasn't right with the port size/box and it turns out I'm bottoming out my sub with how big the port area is. Could you do a new port design taking in consideration I'm overpowering the sub. Thanks!
