The shorter the run of cable the smaller the AWG can be. there is a difference between "can be" and "should be" I always thought the ground should be no smaller than the power esp if you have high amperage.. ..I'm sure you can get away with it for a short time, but how long until it gets too hot? but i guess not my car, not my problem.?
