Tested Skar Audio SK-1500.1D "1500 Watt" Car Audio Amplifier w/ SMD Amp Dyno AD-1

Recommended Posts

I remember seeing Steve (SMD) doing some AD-1 Dyno Testing on another 1500 Watt Amplifier recently when browsing his YouTube video, and since we also make a monoblock 1500 Watt Class D Amplifier, it seemed like a good idea to compare the 2 amplifiers by doing the same EXACT testing Steve did in his video and compare the results!! Very happy with the Dyno Steve and Tony engineered, as it allows to do comparison testing that is accurate! (Thanks Steve)

This video was mirrored after the one Steve did on the other amplifier, so we only did the Dynamic Power Testing in this particular video, at the same loads of 0.8 ohm and 0.5 ohm. We will be posting certified runs shortly. Very happy to see how it performed against the competition though!

Dynamic Power Runs measure burst power up to the point of distortion/clipping.

Check out the video!!

Skar Audio SK-1500.1D Dynamic Power Results

0.8 Ohm Load - 1,824 Watts @ 12.42 V

0.5 Ohm Load - 2,290 Watts @ 12.30 V

Sundown SAZ-1500.1D Dynamic Power Results (Pulled results from Steve's Video on YouTube)

0.8 Ohm Load - 1,663 Watts @ 14.10 V

0.5 Ohm Load - 2,019 Watts @ 13.96 V

The SK-1500.1D remains one of our strongest selling amplifiers and also one of the first ever released - after seeing these results from testing with the AD-1, we are proud to see why!

Also, let's see that on a 14v battery bank, or the car turned on!! Would like to see some active alternator powers.
