MoneyPitInvestR
Ill be getting a crescendo 3500 soon. my question is What sub would be best used. Im considering getting 2 sundown X 12's but im curious as to how 2 of the Zv4 12's would do. Some say an X can take a 3.5k at 1 ohm and a Zv4 on a 5k. This is a daily driver, mainly just to crush lows for days. Would i over power the X's when wired to 1 and would i under power the v4's at 1? I understand there will be box rise, and i really dont want to wire to .5 for daily. Quote 2006 Impala LS Pioneer AVH-P4300dvd "Big 3" 0awg Iraggi 320a alt. MoneyPitInvestR
i dont mind spending the money on the v4's. how would the performance be with 2 x's compared to 2 v4's? Brandonbkd
I mean of course the ZV4s would be better but it all comes down to what you're willing to spend. If you don't mind spending $1100 on 2 12s then I'd say go for it. MoneyPitInvestR
I see it as a $360 difference between having something good and having something great. I just hate buying something knowing I could have paid a bit more and get something better Quote 2006 Impala LS Pioneer AVH-P4300dvd "Big 3" 0awg Iraggi 320a alt. audiofanaticz
if your second guessing it like you are, simply get the zv4s. i sadly havent gotten to play with them yet, but I do know they are simply beasts from others using them, and a single zv4 taking a lot of power in the one sundown employees hatchback. Keep in mind that the X series have a slightly lower power handling, but as always they will take way more power then they are rated for following sundowns typical tradition it seems. If it was me tho, zv4 for sure
HatersGonnaHate
I agree with Brian, zv4 all the way. I had the X-15 on my DC 3.5k seeing roughly 1700 watts at 2 ohms. Handled the power well and killed the lows all day long, but they were seeing 500w over rms... Got a little stinky at times but never blew or had a coil issue. The zv4's will handle that power all day long with no issues and actually want more power. The zv4's have a stiffer suspension, so they won't dominate the lows like the x series, but they'll be fine playing the lows, digging down deep, and jiggling the balls when they need to. jagblazer01
I would get the Zv4s. That way you are giving them good power and have room to upgrade your amp at a later date if you want. The X's will be pretty much maxed out with that power and you would have no room for upgrade.
