Please help! Electrical System Question

Recommended Posts

So i will have a 2000 watt amp running two new 10" KIcker CWR 600 Watt RMS subs. Sense each will be getting around 1000 watt max each sub when really needed. I already have the box and 14 Gauge Speaker wires and all.

Anyways apart from that i have a stock 60AMP alt and a crap battery.

I'm going to be upgrading with a new battery and Alternator and hook it all with 0 AWG. My question is what battery and what size Alternator should i get? i'm looking at the yellow tops but still i'd like some opinions on what i should go and budget i'd say is around $600.

and just for the giggles this system is going in a single cab F-100 Half ton Pickup with the famous bullet proof engine

Yellow tops are nice but I would go with XS Power. Just my opinion and not saying others are bad. I just prefer them. You can YouTube the test on the batteries and see them. As for your alternator I am no expert but you can never put too many batteries or too many alts in the same sentence. Personally I would get the biggest alt that you can fit in and also the same with the battery. You may not need a 300 amp alt but in a year when you want to upgrade and do a wall or get something bigger you will have one less thing to buy. Don't just go with what you need but get a little more just in case. I have gone through one system then upgraded and had to buy everything all over again and wasted money in the process. Of course your budget does play a part but don't skimp on your items. Just my two cents............or dollar. Whose tracking anyways lol

Really just depends on you!
Get a 12v deep cycle battery. XS is what everyone talks about.
But i dont have one. im pushing atleast 1200 watts rms. If youre going to upgrade in the future

then get nicer stuff. maybe a 200 amp alt. and a nice deep cycle xs power battery. or

im finally doing my big 3 after a few months, stock alt is 140amp.

and my battery was recommended at sams club for $100. its pretty much an OEM fit.

Someday ill upgrade to an XS or two. and a new alt maybe.

What amp will you be running?

When you say 2000watts is the the RMS rating of the amp ?

If its 2000w MAX you should be "OK" with stock alt an upgraded battery and Big 3 done in 1/0

If its 2000w RMS then you want to add a quality H.O. alternator to that 1st thing.

CURRENT SYSTEM:

  • Alternator:
    1. Stock alt on mids/highs
    2. Isolated DC Power 270 SP - Charging @ 16.8v
  • Batteries: (2) XS D1400s
  • Power Cable: Double Runs of 1/0 KNU Kolossus Fleks
  • Headunit: 80-PRS
  • Sub Amp: DC 5.0k
  • Subwoofers: 2 RE MT 15s /PSI dual .7ohm recones
  • Subwoofer Enclosure: 9.1cubes @ 32hz - brutal.
  • Mids & Highs Amp: CT125.4
  • Active Components:
    • Mids RE XXX 6.5c
    • Highs - 3 RE XXX tweeters per side(A pillar)
  • Noise Control: Damplifier Pro all over the cab.
