I've got 1/4" thick 4"x4" steel about 30 inches long with the ends welded shut along both sides of the frame under the cab on my body dropped F-150. Didn't have room for a standard tank with the extra batteries under the bed, doesn't store much air but I used four Viair compressors so fill time is quick. Not enough air to play with but enought for daily driving.

I have seen it done before where a guy had some smaller thinner tanks mounted to the rear bumper in the little space between the bumper and the truck. I know they were custom made but its an idea. You could also mount tanks on the outside of the frame rails. There should be enough room to mount some 3 maybe even a 5 gallon tank in the space between the body and the frame.
