1994 Ford F350 RSK suspension lift. SHE'S DONE!!!! 9/26/13

Recommended Posts

Yea you are going to want to get Blue locktite if you ever want to get the bolts off ever again without using a blow torch. Red locktite you have to heat up to 500 degrees for it to loosen up.

WOW thanks for that info. I'm glad you said that. I'll go get blue on the way home then. SHIT, that would've been bad! Cause this is not the only time I'm doing this. I'm planning another lift in the future. This is just for the handling cause it sucks ass right now. My kidney's hate this truck! LOL Good lookin out man! :drink40:

My dad is in a meeting right now, so he can't get to call me till atleast 4:30, and by then I'll be at work. A quick google search nabbed a few results from the Ford forums, tightening the nut on top of the worm gear should get it. The center nut there, and it'll probably be a bitch to get to.

Ok, that makes sense. I'm in no hurry. I'm probably not going to do anything till the weekend anyway. That's when I'll be working on the front. Thanks for checking though, it's a big help.

Yup it's that nut on top. Just tighten it a little bit though, only a quarter of a turn or so. He say's, and I quote, "Over tighten it and your fucked in any condition. Especially if you have a load behind you."

Thanks.

Ok so I wasn't at work yesterday cause I was doing some work at my parents house. But I got my track bar yesterday. Ill be getting to work in about an hour, I'm at physical therapy right now.

Last night I got an email from 4wheelparts that my sway bar bushings had shipped. Nothing about the end links. So I was pissed. Took 5 days for an in stock part to ship, number 1, and number 2 I hadn't even heard about the end links shipping yet and those are what I really need for the front.

So I called em up and it was a mistake. The links are scheduled for delivery today, and the bushings for next week. They only did one set of bushings though so none for the back. So that sucks, but ill order them from summitracing.com. I won't order anything else from 4wheelparts.

Got the shackle bushings for the rear the other day, but I don't see that I did an update. They sent me bushings for the front shackles not the rear. Got them on the phone, summitracing, and got it worked out and had the new ones next day. So I'm good to go there.

So now I have everything for the rear. Tonight ill be putting that back together, baring any other issues. Then saturday ill start the front. Storm coming in but I think I have a canopy to cover me from the elements.

More tonight!!

Ok guys. Had a busy night and day, which was cut short. But here comes the photos.

Rear Shackle Bushings

Front Extended End Links came in today.

Also got the track bar in from PMF today. But it's raw metal so we're going to have to do something about that. Some self etching primer and black rust tough flat black should do the trick.

1278903_730677460281396_35944548_o.jpg

Sexy ends. Yummy!

1025373_730677526948056_195650392_o.jpg

The self etching primer didn't work, I guess it was old. So I used regular auto primer.

1266634_730677536948055_1355325421_o.jpg

Primer dried and ready for some paint.

Flat black. Looks great! Coat 1

1065106_730677580281384_362954969_o.jpg

Time to drill. Had to make the holes on the shackle bigger to take the larger SD spring bolts.

1271744_730677653614710_1084492055_o.jpg

Also had to drill out the front rear shackles to take the bigger bolts for the SD springs.

Time to drill out the SD eyes to take the bigger 3/4" bolts. This was a pain.

Drilling out the eye hole.

1269478_730677973614678_1465886716_o.jpg

The rear shackle has to be cut out a little on the webbing to take the bigger SD Springs. This was the best way to get a nice visible straight line.

Using my air sawzall, makes the job easier. 1 down 1 to go.

Second one down!!

1167230_730678103614665_1079229673_o.jpg

All cut and ready to go!

1275893_730678113614664_1075394019_o.jpg

Time to add the new bushings.

1292890_730678163614659_1965586144_o.jpg

Lube the shackles so the bushings slide in easier.

1167236_730678293614646_270422914_o.jpg

The lube allows them to slide in pretty easily. Ready for the sleeves.

1279012_730678320281310_259421139_o.jpg

Looks a little dry in there. Needs more lube.

1294587_730678386947970_2005566004_o.jpg

Sleeves in.

Getting the hardware ready to go. Anyone see an issue? The last bolt is a 1/2" bolt not a 9/16" bolt which is where I got it from, the 9/16" bin. Off to Lowes I go!

1268144_730678436947965_713262682_o.jpg

Now we're in business.

1266250_730678543614621_347336493_o.jpg

Not a great pic. I was working by shop light, and it put off a heck of a glare. But the rear shock is in on the top. Not quite ready for the bottom to be attached yet. Also notice I left the green strap on it to keep it compressed.

1274074_730679123614563_522903375_o.jpg

Just another view.

1167323_730679130281229_215611405_o.jpg

Now to get the end links ready to go in. Got some lube with them so I'll use it to get these things in. These are the bushings for the top eyelet.

1269569_730679196947889_557461432_o.jpg

Added the lube to the top of the bushing.

1275299_730679383614537_1136520102_o.jpg

Spread it around. Let's get it put in.

1268559_730679400281202_1158282698_o.jpg

Put the end link on the top, and push. The lube will allow it to slide down over the bushing.

1269185_730679466947862_185540132_o.jpg

BAM! Time for the second one, and then we'll put the sleeves in.

1291428_730679663614509_1348880164_o.jpg

Same thing with the sleeves. Lube them.

856786_730679543614521_557736804_o.jpg

Lube on top

1262637_730679676947841_1938589399_o.jpg

Then put the bushing over it, and push down.

1278027_730679693614506_1042688866_o.jpg

And we're ready to get them on the truck.

1262961_730679713614504_1185398788_o.jpg

Here's the order of which the washers and bushings will go.

1263970_730679730281169_243708657_o.jpg

First washer and bushing on, then the next piece is the actual sway bar.

1094588_730679746947834_1210104242_o.jpg

New bolt with a Nyloc nut on the other side. Ready for the sway bar now.

Ok guys, so I'm gonna remind you guys, I'm doing this by the seat of my pants sort of. I've done some reading on forums and DIY's etc. But not all of them are clear.

So for some of you following that may see something I did wrong, or something, please speak up, cause I'm all ears. I'm always willing to learn folks! Ok let's move on!

All the bolts that don't have nyloc nuts, get a lock washer and some blue thread locker.

1263970_730679880281154_59799115_o.jpg

Shackles on, and ready to go on the truck. Nothing is tight yet.

1268512_730679816947827_130533668_o.jpg

Lift block on, SD Springs, then the separator block, and the load spring, followed by the top plate.

1239161_730679910281151_1559204291_o.jpg

1268018_730679936947815_1933027913_o.jpg

Added the u-bolts, washers, and nuts.

1273462_730679963614479_316395297_o.jpg

1233309_730680000281142_1989076145_o.jpg

Everything on in the rear, and ready to be tightened down.

1276244_730679996947809_1734243437_o.jpg

Rear shackle view. Ready for some thread lock and to be tightened up.

1239323_730680026947806_572806054_o.jpg

Bottom of the shock attached and ready for tightening.

1266999_730680070281135_1306852728_o.jpg

This is the Driver side shock bottom. Sleeve and some more lube. I forgot to do this on the passenger side and it ended up being a real pain in the ass to get the sleeve in while it was on the truck. So this one I did before I put it on.

1265127_730680056947803_2101637683_o.jpg

Pretty much the same as the end link, lube on the top.

1271000_730680086947800_887511731_o.jpg

This one I pushed on as much as I could, and then I had to get a little more aggressive with it.

1265686_730680103614465_1998232128_o.jpg

Meet Mr. Aggressive!

1262591_730680133614462_137438080_o.jpg

Sleeve is in!

1269186_730680146947794_758332283_o.jpg

1262885_730680160281126_2119542333_o.jpg

It started to rain pretty good, so I stopped taking progress pics, really had done it all for the passenger side, so I basically just did the driver side the same way. Wheels back on, and ready to come down.

1264014_730680176947791_1605090212_o.jpg

And we have touch down. So at this point, the rear is pretty much done. I have everything to change out the differential fluid, but right now, with it so wet, I decided not to do it. I'll see about it this week. Even with the tarp over where I was working, everything was getting wet. So I called it a day today. Rain is not supposed to subside until later tonight. Tomorrow I'll start the front.

1233111_730680196947789_220968800_o.jpg

As I posted these pics the rain has been done for a bit, even though there are some pretty nasty clouds around. I may take a few minutes and go get the front jacked up and get the stands under it. I'm still not gonna have much time to do anything tonight. But we'll see. I think it's just going to be a long week for me.

Thanks for checking it out. More to come tomorrow!
