The ULTIMATE Sound System Output Monitor - the SMD OM-1 **now with "peak hold" (video inside)

Recommended Posts

The reason i say ULTIMATE, and use caps, is because this product isn't just pretty lights. Once calibrated with your DD-1 (or scope), you can see in real time when you are pushing the system just a little too hard. Set it to get red about the time your DD-1 shows red and you will know when you are reaching your limits, and can back off, possibly saving a speaker's life :D Sure there are other pretty lights out there, but this one actually has substance, to go with the style. :coolugh:

Anyhow, you will notice, the new ones have a new "peak hold" feature. Tony showed me it and i LOVED it so much, i demanded they all be that way. We were considering making an OM-1p and actually having 2 products, but i want this to be on all of them. If anyone here has purchased the original model, and would like "peak hold" on your unit, unfortunately, it will need to be sent in to be reflashed. It costs about $5 bucks each to pay someone to sit down, tear it apart, reprogram it, put it back together and then test it. I tell you what though, send yours to me and i will cover the $5 upgrade and ship your's back to you. I also ate the costs to have all the new units done and will not raise the price.

All new units will come stock with the peak hold but if you do NOT like it, please let me know! i have some that aren't reflashed yet.

anyhow, watch the vid! check out a low/mid/high setup i did this morning.

It doesn't look like the peak hold works on the red LED?

-Jamie M.

Probably because I had the gains set right and the songs i was using didn't push it hard enough to make it see red. The Red LED doesn't actually mean you are distorting. It just means you pushing the system to hard and reaching your limit. Since it is calibrated with the DD-1, if you see red, you are probably going a little too far. I guess i coulda pushed it harder for the video. If i was to push that amp into hard clipping, the power would increase and you would DEFINITELY see a red light since it is so close to the edge at yellow. Keep in mind, if it isn't reaching RED soon enough, you can always adjust it to your preference.

Already sent 2 emails to that email address. They may be going to the spam or trash folder but I'm trying to order a set of 12ft RCA's SE and the HV-VM. Just let me know if they in fact did go to the spam folder so I will know for future purchases. Thanks

in all fairness bro, you sent the email friday night at 11:08pm. We can't really do anything till Monday anyway. I responded. Thanks man! (p.s. only got 1 email too). Edit: found the other one from 10/10. Sorry, that one slipped through the cracks. That's the J-bird for you. Ill say something to him about keeping up on the emails. He is usually on it. I was sick all week last week, my (diverticulitis showed up again) and he was on his own. I spent probably 20 min at the shop in the last 5 days. He is def my backbone but he does miss stuff.
