carshateme
Instead of starting a new one, I'll add onto this one. Not gonna go into great detail, but here's what's going in the Pontiac this time. 2 12" Sundown Audio Zv3s, custom built1 Ampere Audio 3800.12 XS power D3400XS POWER D925Pioneer DEH-80PRS HeadunitRam designed box, crafted by myselfSubs and port facing in towards the cabin of the car, sealed off by fiberglassAmp rack in trunk wheel well, batteries on the each side of the box.Knukonceptz wiring, rca, and fusesMike Singer 270amp alternator (soon to be downgrading to a lower amp alternator for better idle voltage)Front stage setup: 4 Silver Flute W17RC38-08 6-1/2" Mids (2 on each door) and Vifa NE25VTS tweeters.Front stage amp will be a PPI Phantom 900.4 Well, had to upgrade the shocks and struts before I can even start the build. So lifted her up and found something amazing... Fricking engine mount is starting to go bad. Oh well. Good thing is that it's a cheap repair. Well here's the front struts. Was too busy wanting to kill my car to take pictures of the back. Some of the sexy toys are starting to make it's way to my home. The pioneer DEH80-prs So sexy And the P.o.S installation kit. (I hate these cheap ass things)I'm gonna most likely plasti-dip it blue before installing the headunit. This badboy just came in today. Such a beastAmpere Audio 3800.1 And these little guys will be my battery bank (will probably either buy another or upgrade to 2 d3100) New build coming soon. carshateme
Got some more goodies in the mail. The vifa tweeters. Heavy little things The silver flute mids. They're heavy as well. Nice magnets. All my KnuKonceptz Karma SS 2 and 4 channe rcas and fuses. Already got a nice supply of 0/1 gauge and 4 gauge power wire. Got to working on it this past weekend. Pain in the balls, I'll tell you that right now. Three sets of wires through the boot of the door, just attempting to get the wires through the boot..was painful..then trying to get the plug out of the door..was even more painful. But..Both doors got down. I was pissed off on the driver side door that I didn't even take a picture of it. I would think I would get a break after that painful part, but, nope. Car decides it want to be a ****. Had even more troubles running the wires through a plastic holder that was holding all the stock wiring, literally had a clothes hanger, which kept getting stuck half way on both sides. All I'm going to say is that I am probably not going to be doing anymore to this car...wire wise. Got the kit and everything for my radio. Wasn't cheap, but I bought it anyways..just to find out it doesn't fit. So after about 25minutes of soldering wires together...my radio finally goes in. (Had to do modifications to the dash installation kit, since it didn't want to clip in) All the wires in the back for preparing of the subs, amp and box. The batteries are in there temporarily, bus bars will be ordered sometime soon and 2 more d3400 added. Next weekend will be plasti dipping the trim, rims, and grill. Installed my xs power D925. Did NOT realize how small it was, lol. I really need to invest in some really sharp wire cutters. The stock wires are thick. Didn't think I'd be able to get the case back on..but somehow I managed to. Had to make sure all my batteries were at the proper voltage. So, tested em all. New build coming soon. carshateme
Box design Well..had a bunch of plans and stuff I wanted to get done today..but nope. Story of my life. Anyways..got something done. Got everything unloaded..Yay... Did do some cutting, but then started think that I could nail out the painting first then get started on the box..did not realize how long it was gonna take to prep everything. First mess up. Decided to get all the dirt off the rims with some foam cleaner...forgetting about the chemicals that was left on the rim..let's say about 45 minutes later, I had all the rims powerwashed and dried.. Had to remove the first layer of plasti dip from one rim. Yup. Grill painting. The lazier and faster way. Back on to the rims, first coat Trim prepping and painting Second layer for the rims, was getting a little annoyed. All my cans (5 of them) where splattering all over the place, not spreading evenly. Figured I'd do a light coat then. Second coat on the grill. Third coat on the rims..so I'm kinda disappointed in plasti dip. It splatters and the color is not the color I want. (You can literally see spots from the splattering) Some more prepping...whoop whoop Started noticing really bad spots all over the trim, that's when I had enough. Went to home depot and bought some regular spray paint. Loved the color. Looks fricking fantastic. I ain't gonna diss plasti dip. Maybe I did it wrong..maybe it was a bad batch of cans. Who knows. I've seen some of their works on other cars..looked great. But not with mine. So I'm happy with the way my car turned out. New build coming soon. carshateme
Didn't get much done this weekend. Had a lot of other stuff to deal with. But I did manage to get the box built, and one door panel in preparation of fiberglass and bondo. Had to take care of issue one, before even attempting to put another box back in my trunk, kept having an issue where water was getting into my trunk somehow. Took it to the body shop to have to figure it out and turned out it was an easy fix. Did it myself with a nice bottle of silicone. This was behind my driver's side taillight, where water was just pouring in. You can literally see the water seeping in. Problem fixed, no more water. And after that issue was fixed. Was time to get started on the box. Incase you were wondering "Why so many screws" I cannot answer that. I honestly don't know. I only had 11 clamps of different sizes. Umm, so I learned a very valuable lesson. Use a respirator mask when dealing with fiberglass. I got stupidly high off the fumes. Ended up calling it a night really early and now I'm sick with inflammatory infection in my throat. Really hurts to swallow. Had an hour to kill so I got started doing phase one on my door panel. (This is only the passenger) My phases are simple. Fleece + Adhesive spray, then resin on the fleece, apply one layer of matting, then resin on top of the matting. I then will let it sit. Phase two is once everything is dry, take a jig saw, remove the extra pieces, sand down the bubbles, wipe it down, then apply another coat of resin and 1 more layer of matting. Let that dry, onto phase three. Fine cut everything for details, then apply bondo..then sand sand sand, more bondo, sand sand sand, morrreee bondo, then wet sand and paint; Easy enough right? lol; Nope it's actually quite messy and time consuming..probably doing it wrong, but that's my tactic. Now to let the box and that door panel dry, next weekend, hopefully, I'll have my subs and speakers in with the amps tuned as well as the rest of my painting done. New build coming soon. carshateme
Thank you sir. I've done a few of my own builds and I've learned from my mistakes..so I'm attempting to do it all right the first time, so I don't have to do anymore down the road. New build coming soon. cgrez33
Why didn't you put a d3400 up front as well? Also for the plasti dip it's splattering because you were probably spraying below like 60-70degrees. What I do when the cans are cool is I run them under hot water and keep them there for a while so everything warms up then it sprays really smooth. Also I usually go with [light coat (50%) light coat, medium coat, wet coat, wet coat] when I spray my dip. Barely got that 925 in it. (Didn't feel like modifying anything) And I told this to another guy. The can was literally at room temperature. It was sitting in a 72-73 degrees polebarn ...would've still changed the color. Was way to dark for my liking. Maybe down the road I may do some upgrading to the front battery, but the stock battery was really dragging my electrical down, so I just needed a quick fix. New build coming soon.
