I use to have blacks an used them with blues .. When I bought blacks in eBay few years back I had 9 out if 12 bad they leaked or didn't charge .. I was always weary of hooking in series to amps because of this .. The way I did it was one pos from batt to amp dual input the other from cap bank to dual input .. Had some amp failures wasn't sure why but found two bad caps on my banks .. Question should grounds come from battery or frame .. I know there's a lot of current going through wires .. How many banks of blues for 20 k I have 4 now which helps with battery's but I know I need more just no room

i would say its worth every penny to buy new that way you know they were not abused or are bad. I will never buy the black ones off people. The blue ones i would if they were a trusted source.

for 20k i would have at least 12 banks maybe more? I'm going to have 8 banks on 10k. And im running 3 banks on 5k and a stock alt and hold great voltage.

i would have 16 banks for 20k at a minimum if you want to hold voltage. esapecially if you are wiring lower than 1. the number of alternators also comes into play.

Why can't you charge to 17.0 with 6 blues? 2.7 x 6 is 16.2 and 2.8 x 6 is 16.8 so .2 more volt is not gonna hurt a thing.

you can charge to whatever you want. the banks with 6 in series are rated to 16.2 MAX. with a surge rating of up to 17.1. personally i dont like to push things and break down the innards. will they take it for a burp or 2. sure. but i sure as hell wouldnt be driving around daily pushing 16.2 volts or more. thats asking for failure.

yea balancing is key, but i guess i dont like to push things past their rating for my peace of mind. I am sure they will do it for perieods, but my car shuts off at 16 volts, plus i dont drop any. but by all means if people equipment allows for a higher voltage use at own risk!

i have a charger that charges at 14.06v could i use it to introduce a charge i believe it has a 5 amp and 2.5 amp setting

any battery charger or power supply would be fine to charge the caps. They key is the resistive circuit. You need the resistors other wise your charger will go into its short protect mode, or if you dont have short protect then it will break. and youll be buying a new charger.

the ones you ordered are good. for 30 dollars more you can get new ones though... those ebay ones are used as you can see in the description

those balancing circuits are active. they will do nothing in most peoples systems especially if using the blue caps. once i add the balancing section it will be clearer

so i confirmed something today about the boost caps. if your capacitors say boost cap they are last years model. i believe from 2012 to early 2013.

on them it says patent pending. on the new blue caps it only says maxwell. My guess would be they got the patent approved. Thus is you have the boost caps they are still authentic maxwell. just all of them if bought will be used, so if someone is trying to sell you them for a new price id call them out.

i have plenty of caps left after my 500 cap purchase (i have 300 left, sold 200 already) if people are interested enough I could set up a vendor account on here to make it legitimate and be able to advertise and sell

i can also design full banks as well for any size power.
