f16fxr4real
Pulled up the cut sheet and design for the sd-2 and it shows a vented design. I read a lot regarding using these in a sealed application. Im ASSUMING the vented design maximizes output? I plan on using my Diamond Audio D6 1500.1 but would the 1500 at 4 ohm with 375 watts be to little and would the 1500 watt output at 1 ohm be to much? I was thinking about getting a second 10 to run it at 2 ohms and 750 watts. thoughts and clarification please......I listen to everything but mostly enjoy older rap/R&B

ZDudas
My Sundown SD-2 12 does way better in a ported box than a sealed box.
Pioneerchuck
The SD sub was meant more for a ported enclosure that had less depth in the box that way it could be mounted behind something like a truck seat. As for amp choice, if you have the more powerful amp already Id say go for it that way when you upgrade you wont have to upgrade power and subs. If you go more power now all you have to do is turn down the gains.
bgolladay1
The SD series was designed to be in small tight sealed enclosures in spaces where you don't have room to put a ported box. f16fxr4real
LOL, damn it. Now there are 2 for small sealed, and 2 for ported. Anyone at Sundown have further insight? This will be going in the trunk of my 65 Chevy in the corner pic
CleanSierra
We don't need anyone from Sundown at all. The EBP for the D2 sub is 76. It is suited perfectly for either a ported or sealed enclosure. It is really just for any build where space is tight. Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. CleanSierra
When EBP is 50 or less, sealed or 4th order bandpass is the preferred enclosure type. 50-90(more like 100)can go either ported or sealed. Anything that is 90 and above heavily prefers a ported enclosure. EBP is calculated by Fs divided by Qes. Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. Smoove
I have an SD-2 10 D2 in a sealed box on an RF P500.2. I play stuff like decaf to drowning pooling and I love the sub. Very impressed for it being a shallow mount sub.
