Design Questions for 12" Kicker L7 @ 35 Hz Enclosure

Hey everyone. Long time reader, first time poster. I have always found my answer with enough reading, however box design is something i can not seem to grasp. If anyone would have a few minutes to design a box for me it would be greatly appreciated. The box im running now is beyond junk..

Vehicle : Chevy Blazer
Location in the vehicle: Rear / Cargo Area
Space available (Depth x Width x Height):Depth is 33In, Width is 40In, Height at 12inches I can keep it hidden under the cargo cover (preferred). But 17inches max.
Subwoofer make and model: Kicker L7
Subwoofer Size: 12 Inch
Number of Subwoofers: Single
Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.):Slot Port
What type of music do you like?: Mostly Rap
Is your goal SPL or Everyday Music?: Both I suppose. Looking for that balance of LOUD and LOW
Tuning Freq (Hz): 35Hz is that balance as far as I have read...
Volume : Whatever is necessary for optimal result.

Space available is the maximum space i could give up in the cargo area. I would like the box as small as possible (while staying within Volume spec / Hz Tuning) to retain some room for cargo.

Also I have noticed on some box requests the amp setup seems to be asked about. Pairing this with a kicker 750.1.

Not a pro at this but from what I get from torres you can do 14x37.5x17 port at 12.5x4x27. this will give you a tune of about 35.43, 50 square inches of port area and 16.23 port area per foot. Of course this is a rough guess here. You can download torres box calculator and mess around with it and can help you some more. I'm not sure what those speakers really like. Someone may have better experience with them though. If not download torres and have some fun. also sub facing back and port back with a total of about 3.08 cubit feet after displacement. Close to it anyways.

Nothing to add concerning the box, but that is a great amp, I love mine and don't really want to get rid of it when I do. Just make sure you feed it good power. Stock alt with big 3, and a beefy run of 4 gauge to it should keep it just fine and dandy. Did for me at least. Also, keep a good ground and ditch the kicker bass knob. PAC LC-1 ftw :)

Also, keep an eye on the voltage of that amp at the amp itself. I ran it at .35 ohms nominal for about an hour at a time every once in a while to demo for people, keeping voltage above 12.5, and it didn't warm up too bad. Nope, it never protected either. Killer little amp, sure it does well over rated.

Yeah im messing with torres a bit. thanks for the guidelines to start with. Hoping someone comes along with an image layout to further help me out.

And to the second reply, love the 750.1 I have owned many over the years, and I definitely dont use the stock "bass boost" knob. ;)

Got a suggestion from Joe X:

"Here is a suggestion:

E n c l o s u r e S p e c i f i c a t i o n s :

F b = 3 5 H z
V b = 2 . 8 f t ^ 3

E x t e r n a l H e i g h t = 1 4 . 5 i n
E x t e r n a l W i d t h = 3 6 . 5 i n
E x t e r n a l D e p t h = 1 5 i n

P o r t W i d t h = 3 i n

C u t S h e e t L i s t :

* A l l D i m e n s i o n s i n I n c h e s .
* W o o d T h i c k n e s s i s 3 / 4 f o r a l l P a r t s .

E x t e r n a l E n c l o s u r e P a r t s :

L e f t & R i g h t S i d e s =

S i d e 2 = 1 4 1 / 4 x 1 3

F r o n t = 3 2 3 / 4 x 1 3

B a c k = 3 6 1 / 2 x 1 3

F r o n t t o B a c k = 1 0 1 / 2 x 1 3

I m p o r t a n t n o t e s :

- T h e p o r t n e e d s 3 " o f f r e e a i r s p a c e i n f r o n t o f i t f o r p r o p e r o p e r a t i o n .

- S e t t i n g y o u r a m p s u b s o n i c f i l t e r t o 2 8 H z i s s u g g e s t e d .

Took a minute but i started the build yesterday and finished it today. Thank you very much Joe X, my 3 mile trip from my friends house to home has resulted in a massive bass induced headache. Box design worked out perfectly for me!
