Daniel Harbeson
It's like that here. There is a shop near me that sells sundown. I bought one x-12 for sizing and stuff and paid 418$ after tax. I can get them all day long off online shops for 345$. When your gonna be doing a install like me with 8 subs, a price difference of 70$ a sub times 8 is big enough to change my mind on where i buy them from. I love supporting local places but sometimes there price difference is crazy... I asked a while ago on the price for a saz 3500 v2, they wanted almost 1400 for it. I can find it online for 1124. There was a lady in there getting pricing for a simple install. Two 10's a 1000 watt amp, new head unit, deadner in doors with new speakers in the doors and all the wire and installation. Guy quoted her for almost 3500$. I was like wtf? I was so tempted to stop her outside and tell her she could meet up one night and id show her the same stuff but from online for a fraction of the price and install it all myself in 1 day (they wanted 4 days) for just a few hundred dollars. But i didn't wanna be that guy that steals customers outside a shop. lol

But i didn't wanna be that guy that steals customers outside a shop. lol shops are more expensive for a reason. They have bills to pay. What is the extra $70 for? That covers your shipping (at least $30-$40 of it) and the rest is him having it in stock and you getting it NOW. Of course if you want to wait a few days, have zero customer service, pay for the shipping and deal with issues on your own when something breaks, then yes its a little cheaper. You have no shop, you have no overhead (taxes, employees, supplies, electric bills, insurance and a million other things to keep the doors open) and you aren't a pro. So of course your price to that lady is going to be cheaper. But are you insured? Probably not. I bet she would like someone to work on her car that is insured just in case. ANYTHING can go wrong. Are you prepared to buy that lady a new 10 when you accidentally drop it? Think about stuff like this before you complain or scoff at what someone is charging. If it's proven that the shop SUCKS, then maybe complain about it but if they are good, it's best you stay out of it. Post up a few builds you did, i am curious to see if you have what it takes to work on a "customers" car. herbykw
I have used Arden Audio for a few things. I bought my deck there, and an alarm. The alarm was a Viper with a two way pager, it had everything except remote start. Installed was just over $250. Good shop. 1 Quote 06 300C 5.7 Hemi K&N CAI JVC KW-AVX640 6.1" DVD DC Audio 3.5k 6 DC Audio 8"s 6 cubes 8" aero port at 32hrtz http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/183798-chrysler-300c-8-build/?p=2731834#entry2731834

S15_Silvia
Good to see that in a shop in addition to the usual. The inverted pic of that Zv4 makes me wonder what hell the surround is going through underneath it... SICKSPD
You definitely get what you pay for… that even applies for installation. Some shops here in baton rouge are questionable as to whether or not Id take my car there to be worked on… plus i feel like theres a lot more pride involved doing it yourself, but not everyone has that option. If something messes up its on me and thats why I turn to others who have more experience on boards like smd for advice. Just because its a shop and looks legit doesn't mean it is legit. But yeah, shops are businesses first so of course they've got to mark up prices if they plan on staying open longer than a few months Quote 09 Challenger R/T (Audio system under construction): Pioneer AVH-X4500BT (PAC RP4CH11 harness) (2) Sundown Audio SA-8v2 (inverted) CT Sounds AT1400.1D XS Power D3400 40 sq ft.
