That Loud Focus...USAlternators Hairpin, 4 DD 9515i's in a B pillar on 2 Soundstream XXX-15K's. Caps and Lithium Power. New vids

Recommended Posts

Alright, so as some of you know, my subs are messed up. the coil unwound on one of them and the other has a slightly bent former but plays perfectly fine still.

let me say this though. IT IS MY FAULT lol. I put these subs through so much shit I am surprised they lasted this long. when I added the second amp I barely had electrical for the one. the second just made it worse plus running at .25. so the subs took a couple months of 6 thousand clipped watts at 11 volts. that led to lots of bottoming out and subs getting stinky (part of my bottoming out issues were because of the box as well). so anyways the one sub let go. in the meantime though while it was working, this thing was loud. surprised me every time the bass hit. Didn't meter too well though because of my electrical and port. my score actually went down when I added the second amp even though it sounded louder. that's because it was all clipped from poor electrical.

anyways, I still have the one working sub that I am going to get as loud as I can. I may have to redo ports and such but if that's what it takes then no problem. I am reconing the other 12 for the time being though because the rebuild isn't going to happen until spring. plus I would like to try and get this setup into the low/mid 50's if I can.

I also got a single bank of caps and it helped a bit but with the amount of power I have I do need more banks along with a new alt.

I will post pics up this weekend of everything. so it looks like this build isn't over lol.

low 50s, let alone mid 50s is going to require box change for sure.

why not try what that oe guy did who posted in this thread. his sig says 154 sealed. Before you ruin the car and wall id do one more hatch box it will make you happy for cheap. I will help you if needed man. Im willing to be I can get you louder without a wall.

I can get louder for sure without a wall. but I cant fit 4 12's like he did. he had a 2 door I have a 4 door. he said his hatch was the same size as mine but idk.

anyways I spoke too soon, both subs lost a coil. and one coil unwound. so I have one sub with only one coil left. and im not goanna spend the

money to recone both. so I will probably either go straight to a c pillar or a temp system.

also with a single 3K on low electrical I was able to get to a 146 sealed with no testing or anything. with second 3K I only could get a 144 sealed. but

that was with two half blown subs. the biggest things that held this system back was the box (port area) and electrical. if I have more of both I would have

had a 150. to the ear, I was extremely happy with this system. it sounded louder than it metered and I could play anything above 32hz.

anyways, idk what exactly I am going to do now. probably will throw the half blown working 12 back in and save for recons to 15's.

The thug with running super low impedance is you lose cone control and your dampening and slew rates go in the shitter. Could be way you jacked em up bending a former is pretty tough to do. You live and learn. Won't be the last woofers you blow but you should be disappointed you didn't have to air out your car from the crispy burnt electronic smell when they went

that is exactly why they went. coils are fine. the former bent and the coil slipped off the former. the amps took .25 no problem but the dampening factor took a shit

and that led to this. I think I broke something on the subs prior though. they bottomed once and a while when they were at 1 ohm which is surprising to me.

triple joints look fine, subs are still pretty stiff. I know clipping played a part in it too but idk. I wanna figure out why they bottomed though so I don't do it again lol.
