oldsoundguy
Sub showed up today. So to compare this DC level 3 12 with the soundqubed HDC.3 12 the DC is much lighter. I know this sub is more of a daily sub and the HDC.3 is more spl but just giving the difference that I can feel. It doesn't seem as big either even though they are both 12" subs. The cut out for the DC is only 11" and the outside diameter is 12.5 so it seems smaller. Not a bad thing again just an observation. Its a very nice looking sub IMO. I like the way it looks in the box I built. I don't really like the way the trim ring looks and makes it almost impossible to lift out the sub if it was in place. So I think I will go with the super clean look of just the sub and box. Or I can cut the ring from the flame and just put the flame on that side only. HHMMM I will stop at HD or Lowes tomorrow and get some threaded inserts and some aluminum bolts for the speaker connections tomorrow or Friday. Wont be long now. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
bcbrassard
I agree, sub looks better - the trim ring of fire. Good looking sub in that enclosure.
oldsoundguy
Stopped at Ace and picked up threaded inserts, bolts, aluminum bolts and nuts. Got all the inserts installed and the sub is now all wired and installed in the box. I really like the threaded inserts. Makes it much easier to install and take out. So I should have time tomorrow to swap out the boxes and play it for the first time. Cant wait.... 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
oldsoundguy
Got off early today so first thing I did was change the oil and filter on my truck and my wifes car along with her o2 sensor. Then it was time to take out the 8 and put in the 12. Swap took a little time but went very smooth. For sound? Well of course its absolutely perfect. I love it so far but it will take time for it to break in and I need listening time but ya big difference between the 8 and 12 which isn't a surprise. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

oldsoundguy
Grills were in the mail. Thanks so much BCBRASSARD for them. They will complement the doors very well. Did some amp tuning today. I raised the crossover point on the 3" and did some tweaking to the bandpass for the 4" in the kicks and doors. Trying to get them were they sound good playing with a flat eq. I mostly don't need the dash 3" to play full range but just in the higher range and let the kicks and doors take care of the rest. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
oldsoundguy
Decided to try installing the 3" faital and the focal tweets together again to try them out with the Arc amp. I have them wired in series so they are seeing an 8ohm load. I think that will help the speakers live. I have the amp switched to under 4 ohms on the rear channels so the amp will send less power to the speakers @ 8 ohms. They should not be over powered at all now. If I was to switch the channels to over 4 ohms it will send full power @ an 8 ohm load. So far I still have all gains on the Arc set at 0. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
