how do I wire direct leads

Recommended Posts

Direct leads?

seems a pussy way out.

When the spiders eat the leads.

Think it over and make a better PUSH BUTTON lead.

Those of you that think a 4gauge direct lead does anything,.. lol. They did it because the other leads failed. lol

Enjoy!

The way you wired it is 100% wrong.

Dont know how anyone else didnt catch this.

The way you have it wired NOW Only one coil on ONE sub will work. The coils do NOT conect to each other.

I assume you do 4ohm dual voice coil subs. Which would explain why you got a 3.8ohm reading.

This is what you need to do.

ALLL 4 of you POSITIVE leads from the subs, need to be conected togeather. Same with your NEGATIVE.

If you check that with the DMM youll have around 1ohm.

THEN you take a run from the amp to those leads.

In the end, you will have 5 wires all twisted togeather.

its funny because I just figure that out before coming back to check the thread now my question is how do I keep all four wires connected do I solder them? the issue is I'm used to dealing with cheap subs that don't use direct leads.I'm used to subs where you insert wires and screw down a bolt. I must admit I am new to this and this is my first bUild.so sub 1positive positive negative negative sub 2 positive positive negative negative then what type of wire should I use to run to the amp should it be the same gauge or does it matter?how do I keep all of the wires positive positive negative negative on each sub together? wire nut, solder, drill into box, what? I understand why I wasn't at 1 ohm now I just need to know how to keep the wires together. I'm new! Thank you guys so much!

Keep all of you leads the same length and terminate then with ring terminals (tinned copper is the best option - hot solder).

Drill two holes in your box and use bolts that will fit your terminals.

Bolt all four positive to one bolt and all four negative to the other.

on the outside of the box run 2 wires pos/neg from the bolts to your amp

tarball I like yOur Idea I just can't find terminal Rings to put on 8 gauge wire I went to Lowes and didn't see any(they all have the yellow or blue back on the terminal rings. Also, my plan was to run all wires to the right side of my box. my box is pretty big so it would be hard to keep my direct leads the same length And get them to reach. I'll look for the copper terminal but connectors at Lowes but could not find them the same with the terminal Ring. can you guys send me some pictures of this stuff and also can I find it at a local hardware store? Or will I have to order it?
