Crandis16's Project Zx2 - Part 1: getting it running

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a 99 Ford Escort zx2 automatic with pnp'd head and cams

Drove down to Virginia and back in a day towering it with a 1990 2.9l v6 Ford ranger. Almost killed the transmission passing through the Appalachian mountains lol.

I started by stripping the interior and undoing all the messed up writing that the previous owner had done to it. All but the carpet, seats, and dash are left. Before I do an interior swap I want to deaden the entire interior.

It currently doesn't run. I'm doing troubleshooting.to find out what's wrong now. I can hear the fuel injectors during away but that's all. The car had been sitting for three years.

check and see if the fuel pump is getting the right pressure. if so check you mass air flow meter, or map sensor and tps.

2003 Chevy blazer 4x2, it has a tape deck.

1999 Acura integra, whats a radio?

1983 kawasaki kl250R bobber, my phone is almost loud enough.

I'm swapping for a 98 fuel rail because the 99.5+ models don't have a valve stem on them to check for fuel pressure. I think that may be it though. I have another MAF that I can try, but that will be after I can fire it up.

usually when I have problems it always turns out to be a fuse or something simple.

I'm installing a fuel rail from a 98 zx2 (those came with valve stems to check fuel pressure).
