When to get a new alternator?

Recommended Posts

when it comes to car audio, people always seem to want more, more. So a HO alt is always a good idea. 2nd batteries a plus. Amps for alt depend on how much current your car and amps draw. My advice bigger the better. 270-320.

Telling us the wattage if the amps does nothing with out knowing power draw of the amps.

Figure out the amperage draw of your amps and car. Then figure out the biggest good quality alt with a history of good reveries and customer service (don't touch Ebay) then get batts if needed/wanted.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

I am looking to have a setup that is 3,220 watts. Would you recommend an alternator upgrade? If so, how many amps?

With that amount of power you're running minimum would need to be about 270. What kind of vehicle do you have year make, model and engine size
