So i got a used d3100. The negative terminal has a couple stripped threads in it (exactly where they need to be to tighten down my toolmaker terminals)

Has anyone ever rethreaded these?

Any suggestions on maybe raising the TM terminals higher and maybe try to use threads that are not damaged? (I guess that would mean a shorter bolt)

What about something like this

http://4xspower.com/shop/terminals/589/

Anyone know where i could get something like that? ^

Im just trying not to lose my ass on scraping this battery just to buy a new d3100 (which i should have done in the first place) . I got it resting 12.9 after some training.

This is the couple year old d3100 with the MAX amps rainy for 3200 (not 5000).. currently m7 bolts fit in it (not the m6's like I've seen everywhere else)

edit: i know there are only a few stripped threads because once i get past them it tightens down nicely. But i guess 3-4 lugs stacked or the height of my distro blocks are exactly where i am ending up. And once i try to tighten them down and fail (starts spinning).. i pull everything out and i can see 1 or 2 thread shavings at the bottom which I've cleaned up.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

messaged nathan on here a few days ago. No reply yet.

Thinking of calling the office if he doesn't reply.

Anyone know the hours off hand? Assuming m-f 9-5?

Yeah i was thinking a variation of bolt size might be worth a try. Just debating if longer or shorter is best. The threads that are gone are only like 1/4 off the bottom.

Now I'm deciding if maybe a little .75 or .5 inch long bolt is able to work.

Learned my "Lets buy used to save money" lesson for the 5th or 6th time now.

Ah just JB weld a terminal on her bud...

But seriously, helicoils are really good. If the threads are still pretty good a helicoil will hold just as strong as the original threads.

I used a helicoil on my sled's primary clutch main spring cup...holds a 300lb spring @ 8600rpm.

Lesson- inspect fully before buying

Lesson - still inspect even though you are friends with the person.

The Helicoil DIY i found online was i guess the worse case. He drilled the threads clean with a drill.. then used his kit to make brand new threads and then make sure the bolt threads were perfect... then tighten down.

I found a $40 kit on harbor freight... Anyone got any advise on this one? After a quick stop at auto zone for some washers and bolt combos I've pretty much determined that its gonna need to be re done. Im no professional but I'm pretty sure if something strips threads the moment its more then "finger" tight then something isn't right.
