2 15s and 2 18s

I don't know very much about enclosures and building them to best occupy your airspace in your vehicle but earlier today me and friend had a discussion about airspace. We talked about a scenario in which I bought a Tahoe and I ran 2 15's on a lot of power. He argued that I would be a lot louder on the TL with 2 18's and the 15s wouldn't work because they aren't big enough to make pressure in a cabin as big as a Tahoe. I told him that yes 2 18's has more cone area but other factors come into sound pressure especially enclosure. He basically argued to me that with the same sub, same power, and same tuned box freq the 18s would be louder on TermLab. I agree with him but I don't agree on his "Bigger woofer is louder" theory. Could someone help me clarify what would be the difference in this scenario?

With everything equal, yes, cone area is king. But it depends on everything. If you had say 2 15's on 4k, and 2 18s on 1k, both in proper boxes, I'd imagine the 15s would be much louder.

Current setup in my 96 Hoe

Hu - Pioneer DEH-80prs.

Amps - (4) Crossfire C5 1700D's, MTX Thunder 5604(mids), PPI Art 300.2 (tweets)

Batts - 4 91ah rear batts, 50ah batt up front.

Subs - 2 Crossfire XSv2 18's

Alt - Singer 330A

Front stage - Random JL & Eclipse mids, Eclipse tweets

You could get louder on the 2 15s rather than the 2 18s, but you would need to put a lot more power in the 15s to do so. It would just be easier to get loud with the 18s

Is everyone forgetting Xmas

Would a 15" sub with 30mm Xmas

Not move the same amount of air as a 18" with 20mm Xmas?

What the hell does Christmas have to do with anything ?
