Not enough space for a ported box. Should be about right for a sealed box though.

Invert the subs for more space?

Not a bad idea. The problem is inverting the subs gets you a little more airspace, but he needs more than just a little more. With the dimensions he gave he isn't even close to having enough for a ported box. He needs somewhere around twice as much volume as what he has.

If your space is limited that much I'd just run 1, otherwise this is going to sound horrible(like a prefab).

Invert + external port? That may fix it

Even inverted & an external port wouldn't get him enough space. Sealed really is the way to go in this case.
