Pioneer 4600BT

Dual alt setup with 370XP DC Power for bass amp exclusively

2 Group 31 Crescendo Batteries

Soundqubed Q3500.1

2 HDC418s in Joe X designed box

Amp was set up using DD1

All,

My system has been acting weird lately, (Past 3 months or so). For about 30min, my bass will play nice and loud. After the 30min or so, bass will get cut in half, just bass, not mids or highs. I thought it was the grounds so I checked them, both amp outputs are grounded to the batteries and the batteries are grounded to the chassis, yes the paint was stripped off. The amp is connected directly to a new pioneer unit which I bought about a month ago thinking it was the old head unit, also a Pioneer which was old anyways and needed replacement.

No other issues, weird smells, or noise. Nothing else other than what I just described.

Please help!

Connections are solid I double checked them, if it was the sub connections then wouldn't 1 or both subs stop playing instead of just playing softer?

RCAs maybe? I'll swap them out and test.

What about a faulty bass knob?

if speaker wires are loose, one of the voicecoils could get disconnected temporarily which will definitely cause the bass to be quieter.

edit: those AQ/SQ bass knobs aren't the greatest. i went through two and the second one was even starting to go bad. use a PAC LC-1, its reliable and works great.

RCAs swapped out still same thing, I'm gonna take the bass knob out of the equation since all I want it for is the clipping indicator. I will also re-set the gains with my DD1 again just because.

Rechecked grounds for resistance, they are solid grounds.

I will reply with findings

Thanks for all your help everyone

Def take the bass knob outta the equation man. I used to have a bass knob on all the amps I owned and they all went bad at some point as in the wires would start to get loose on the back and it definitely affected the loudness of my setup. i don't run bass knobs anymore cause it's too much to play around with. My car already feels like a spaceship when I do all the necessary things to turn the system up lol. I would get a pac LC-1 like others suggested if you really want a bass knob I've never heard of anybody complaining about them I might get one here in the near future myself. Hope you get that problem fixed though man you have some solid equipment for sure!

Only read OP

Verify RCAs on back of head unit, any bass knob you have, and on the amp are tight.

Pull your subs and check the wiring is intact and that the tinsels aren't loose or have any breaks/fatigue spots in them
