sbg
My amp is mounted to the top of my box and it gets some good vibrations to my amp. Witch I am scared about. So I got to thinking, would it be OK to deaden the top of the box? Its about the only spot I have to put the amp so kinda need to make it work. Get some nylon or shock absorbers/rubber. Dont think deadener works on wood well Edited July 16, 2014 by SlamminBeats

About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd. gckless
Typical deadener will do nothing on a box. You wanna deaden it? Build it right. Brace it well. I'm undecided about rubber washers. The amp has to be tightened down very tight, and is therefore coupled to the box via the screw or bolt you mount it with, which basically negates benefits of rubber washers. And if it's loose enough for the rubber washers to do anything, then it's bouncing around so much that it's actually much worse. I know it sounds great, but I guess I'm just skeptical they're the saving grace everyone makes them out to be. 1 Quote "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. k3n12ock
If need be, add like 1/2" wood on top, rubber washers/spacers, then mount amp. I did this before and vibration was reduced A LOT. Cheap and well worth it. 2 Quote 05 xB - (2) EVIL 18s - (2) BC3500s - NO WALL Channel 1: http://www.youtube.com/k3n12ock Channel 2: http://www.youtube.com/MrK3n12ock2
sbg
Well when it was built, thinking was that it would be good. And does have alot of bracing. never knows best
is the box affixed to the car in some way? if not i would suggest doing so-
sbg
The box don't jump, just has vibration. Pic of the setup. Amp is mounted on top of some foam and still gets a lot of the vibration. never knows best
i have always bolted to the frame... voilia, minimal vibration plus db gain- would also like to add that the rubber washer things will do next to dick for something like this. you would need vibration isolators/coupling similar to ones used in high end home theaters but much more robust-

Just supports my previous post. But could you move the batteries to either side of the box and then mount the amp behind the box then? Quote "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now.
