OK my budget will be $350-400 so that opens up a bit. Not going for a chrome book unless someone can give me dam good reason why they are so good.

All I know is that you can edit Power Point files on a Chrome book in Google Drive. So you could download templates and just edit them instead of going from scratch.

I say go to Best Buy and ask them to find you something.

You could check out the Surface 2 from Microsoft. I got one a couple months back and I've been very pleased with it for day to day stuff. The size and feel is perfect IMO. My one complaint is the extra $100 cost for the keyboard cover, which is all but necessary for anything requiring a fair bit of typing. Not sure how you feel about the tablet idea but I figure I'll throw it out there.

So as it seems everyone mostly says the HP out of what I have picked out unless I find a chrome book. If you guys can look on best buy and let me know I'll be able to do up to $350. It'd be nice to have a bundle with a case or something. But if not $350 is the highest I can go.

The tablet was suggested but she'd rather have a 13- 15" full keyboard type of laptop. But they were looking promising at first.

I'm into computers & building my own too for the passed 10 years. I looked on Best buy & If I was looking for a computer for $350, I'd buy one of these 3. most of the computers are hit & miss at $350, If you no like you got 14 days money back go for 2nd choice or 3rd.

1st choice: Intel i3 that will act like a quad core, I'd install windows 7 on there too.

2nd: This one here has a touch-screen but not sure how good it will be at $350.

3rd: 1TB, Okay for little gaming on low may not be so good on Battery with AMD.

I have had Dell's, Toshiba's, Emachines, etc. But the best I have found for me is HP. The Dell appeared to become sluggish rather quick. The Emachines shockingly was fast throughout the time I had it, but it was hard to get support or spare parts for it. The HP's I have owned, one older one (forget model) and my current Pavillion 15 (similar to your last option). The one I have now is fast, hasn't appeared to slow down, large clear screen, large HDD, etc.

I would definitely recommend your last on the list, the HP 15.

the first thing you do when you get a laptop is either A) reinstall windows to get rid of all the damn bloatware, or B ) uninstall all the damn bloatware. A is the fastest option.

what you know about that HP bloatware? HP isn't the only one guilty of this, toshiba is terrible with it but dell isn't TOO bad...

Even without deleting the bloatware and still adding my own programs, my computer still has no problem multitasking 3 browsers, iTunes, and Bluetooth streaming. The bluetooth, might I add, is so nice to have on the computer.

Absolutely no putdown on your knowledge, but the 3rd choice (the Lenovo) is not capable of gaming at all. I have more RAM and the AMD A8 with similar processor rates, and I can barely handle low quality gaming. Just my $.02.

How old of an a8? If it isn't the latest refresh, things have changed a bit with the APU's

Personally I would pick up that asus with the i3.
