my BOOSTED 2014 Polaris RZR-4 900 - Packard Performance (pics) (install video/test run page 2)

As some of you might know, a few weeks back, i took the wife out to Sand Mountain, Nevada for her first trip to the dunes. It was a disaster but in the end, i still got to hit the mountain a few times before we left. As powerful as my Polaris RZR 900 is, i could tell it was having trouble making it up the hill and was getting real tired by about 3/4 of the way up. I know my ride isn't the lightest, and neither am I, but i figured it could do it. Well, it ALMOST could do it but not quite. So right then and there i knew what i had to do. Yes, time for some boost. I did some research and i know there is a lot of decent brands of turbo out there but i decided on Packard Performance in the end. They had some seriously beastly machines and even a 900 like mine smoking everything it went against including a Hayabusa sand rail.

So i didn't go with anything crazy like 14psi or above. I am not ready for wild engine mods YET. They actually offer a low boost kit that does 4psi (iirc) and a 9psi "high boost" kit that are both safe to run. I decided on the 9psi kit. The stock RZR does 64rwhp and the 9lb kit puts out 126+hp to the wheels! Great! I can get up the hill with that at 40+mph! (that's up a steep hill, it will of course do about 70mph top speed)

I called them, and explained that i had a speaker box in the back that i did not want to get rid of. Their kit has the air cleaner popping up into the bed and i can't do that with my box. Knowing we would have to make something custom, i went to them to have it done. Just to make sure it gets done RIGHT. So i got booked in for the 19th. That's right, a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah was about to happen. I decided to take my son. It turned out great for pops (me) because he drove BOTH ways the entire trip! he wanted to!

The time is actually an hour behind. We woke up at 4 and departed at 5am.

We just have to drive thru Nevada. What's one state? easy. ya right! that was about 6 of the 9 hours haha damn!

They made this custom cover for the air cleaner to keep the dirt off of it. It is not in the best spot but i HAD to have the speaker box.

oh, and for anyone who might ask. I might be able to notch the box out in a few spots and then drop it in. I might have to re glass it, clean it up, re-bedline it and then drop it back in but ill do what i gotta do. If that don't work ill make an entire new box around the intercooler pipes. They are BARELY in the way but just enough where i have to mod. Ill get to that this week.
