I can't believe how stupid Seattle voters are. They approved almost every tax increase and approved the initiative to increase gun background checks.

594 is going to be ugly.

If they keep this up and run their tax base out of town, it'll be Detroit all over again. People get sick and tired of having their pockets emptied out in taxes to prop up progressive ideals. Eventually, the pressure is enough for them to relocate. Happened in Detroit, happened in New Orleans (LOT of middle and upper class moved out after Katrina, now the tax base is shredded in the city) and it'll keep on happenning around the country.

actually, the tax revenue (its insane!) coming in from the new businesses and proprietors...has given a boost to the economy here in my county and adjacent counties. More revenue for the roads being built, more money for the school districts...and its helped my industry (bail bonds) on slowing down the bogus charges of marijuana possession. helping the police and task forces to concentrate on real threats, such as heroin and meth...its really bad here...but where is it not...

but what do I know...im just a pot head!

The sad thing is with all the shit wrong with this country all the stoner's are worried about is the ability to get high legally. Don't worry about creating jobs, or taxes, or education, foreign policy,or the many other problems we have just worry about getting high.

That's not the only thing we worry about but you have to admit it is a pretty big deal right now and it's going to be talked about. Get used to it.

Hispls is correct and as much as people are trying to bash him, this is very true... We vote for the people who we HOPE will vote for who we want as president... This isn't a popularity contest, the final decision is made at the electoral college... So REGARDLESS what we vote, it's really not our decision on who is president. The problem lies when people vote "democrat and republican" (like there's any real difference), yet they don't know any history on the people they vote for LOCALLY which ultimately is VERY important because they're the ones that make the decisions on majority of our "complaints." I remember when I used to vote, until I started really digging into American history, now I just live life and let God be the judge because history shows the people who run this country, really aren't for the people.

Not saying you shouldn't vote, it just doesn't make a difference how people think it does (as far as voting for the president).

Well we aren't voting for president and you bet your ass even then it makes a difference. Right now couldn't be more important if one party were to take control of the Senate and house right now namely the Democrats who also have the presidency no good can come of it. whether your a dem or republican one party in control of all is a horrible thing, think free reign to do whatever they please we will all get fucked by that for sure. Get out and vote and if you don't keep your mouth shut when it comes to anything political. When 1 person thinks their vote doesn't matter it really doesn't but when a few million share the same idea it begins to matter drastically. I do however agree about voting straight ticket, it's a wasted vote.

Edit- spelling, dam autocorrect.

Apart from rhetoric, if you think there's any difference in the agenda of the two "parties" you have not been paying attention. The shit is as phony as professional wrestling and I won't dignify the whole farce with my participation. Again, in levels beyond county, NOBODY can run a real campaign without a huge financial and political machine behind them, and as the old saying goes "he who pays the piper picks the tune".

didn't post this so people could make up reasons not to vote.

This is a celebration of democracy...

Democracy = Socialism. People who think that the United States of America is a "Democracy" shouldn't be allowed to vote. Go read a civics book please.

At one point I felt it didn't matter whether I voted or not and I held that feeling up until last year. So this was my 1st time voting even though I am 27. My buddy said to me awhile back "You have NO right to bitch if you don't vote" I realized he was right.

To be totally honest I was actually excited to get out and vote and even more so when I found out the voting was happening at my daughter's school which is directly behind my neighborhood. If there was a safe route to walk to it I would've

I have every right to bitch. That right comes from the creator and is guaranteed by the constitution for the United States. Your tired logic is the reason that in Soviet Russia everyone was forced to vote. One man one vote is a central tenant of socialism.

I wish their was one year where no one would vote

I think that would change more things than if every person that could vote would vote

I wish everyone who could vote would. Then it could actually be considered democracy since people think that if they don't vote it doesn't make a difference. Well maybe if everyone who thought that way voted it would.

Another Marxist who craves "Democracy". Yeah, isn't it great having all the brain dead masses running out like good little sheep to vote.

why do people think it doesnt make a difference

Because at the state and national level the enormous cost of running a political campaign is such that ONLY those who represent the interests of their campaign donors and the "party" will ever have a real chance at being heard by the masses (who largely base their voting decision on who had a nice haircut in the last 20 second TV spot).

If some maverick comes along full of piss and vinegar ready to shake up Washington, they're quickly set down by the long time party hacks and are taught the ropes about how to "go along to get along".

The fact is there is a continuity of agenda visible in this country that marches along regardless of which "team" is selected. Apart from rhetoric they're just two piles of the same shit.

Of course shouldn't be any surprise, the general public just run towards the party that wasn't in office last because they think the other party will save them regardless what the truth is. Sadly the majority of the voting people don't truly educate themselves on the candidates and issues, they just listen to the BS commercials

And this is precisely what keeps the plan moving along. What's amazing is that people still celebrate when "their guy" wins like he's going to save the day, then 2-6 years later blame the other guys for the fact that their team delivered nothing but the same shit sandwich.

repubs control the senate and the house. looks like theres gonna be some answers for.benghazi and fast and furious soon oh and the other 40 scandals

LOL. Yeah, if you believe that I have a few bridges to sell you.

In short, I think it's safe to say that if you can't afford 30,000$ a plate dinners for these slimy traitor politicians they don't give a shit about you. They represent only their own interests and the interests of those that finance their campaigns.

Hispls you're right about one thing we are a republic not a democracy your being correct stops there the rest of your I'll informed ramblings are nothing but pure bullshit. Living in this country guarantee's you the right to free speech so you can say what you want doesn't make you right nor do I or anyone else have to share your opinion, so you do you and I'll do me OK. You can direct your unconvincing ramblings at someone else. You're probably the type that buys into all the conspiracy theories too.

Yep. Namecalling = a full rebuttal of everything I said, and of course "conspiracy theory" and "troll" completely takes you off the hook from any actual critical thinking or presenting evidence.

It's OK. I was young and naive once. I ran out to vote, got emotionally invested when my "team" won or lost. It was fun while it lasted, but at some point I had to make the difficult admission to myself that I'd been duped.

Two years from now when you're worse off than you were today, making excuses why your team didn't look after you like you promised, I'll say the same thing and you'll call me names and turn the TV back on and watch 20 second sound bytes to make your informed decision on how you're going to go out and guide the future of our republic with your voting powers.
