audiofanaticz
Your probably hearing the sound of the air moving in and out of the venting on the woofer. After all its a paper cone.
Syphlyn
so it's normal and can't hurt anything. It sounds like air moving but it's coming from the cone/surround area and it's pretty noticeable. It's definitely not coming from the port. I know for sure it's not port noise...just bugs me when im trying to play and its just there and pretty loud ruins the whole experience :'( :'( edit: would the surround make noise when moving? I didn't notice it/hear it when I first got the sub and for the first week there wasn't a sound, I would have heard it. Just started two or three days ago. It's gotten worse as of today. RainStryke
I'd check with Sundown and see what they can do for you.
CleanSierra
Audiofanaticz wasn't suggesting that it was port noise. He was saying what you're LIKELY hearing is the vent on the back side of the motor(basically the sub's asshole). He is suggesting that since the cone is paper, sound can get through it(turns out paper isn't an insulator). Have you checked for leaks in box? Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. rockFord_Expedition
Why would you mount a sub and not tighten the mounting screws? Quote Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Syphlyn
Why would you mount a sub and not tighten the mounting screws? theyre in there good just not fully tightened as the screw was touching the edge of the surround.... Syphlyn
Here's a better description: It almost sounds like the cone/surround is virbrating. It's very loud and noticeable. CleanSierra
Your sub is vibrating itself on the mounting screws because you don't have it screwed down all the way. The only way to fix this problem is to get that sub down tight. Putting on big boy pants, in a nutshell. Edited November 11, 2014 by CleanSierra Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. tacomaguy1
doesn't matter if the screw is touching the surround....get them nice and tight even if they rip the surround by the screw holes it wont do anything Quote Team Flex Issues
