What caliber ? Compact ? They look like nice guns.

And I have been shooting for about 3-4 but I've been doing it more occasionally the last year or two. I took a 4 hours trainin class before shooting where they teach you where to place your finger , hand over hand grip technique, etc etc. And yes, they of course said only put your finger NEAR the trigger if you are absolutely ready to fire. So a firearm without a safety is not a "con" in my book.

I've never shot a .45. How much of an upgrade is it from a .40 recoil / controllability wise. Maybe looking at a 1911 where my pop will pay for half but it's under my name. It's just cause he wants to shoot a 1911 haha. That means I'll probably be using his glocks for my main shooter.

But I'm looking at a bunch of m&p right now. What do you guys think of the compact glocks compared to regular. The smaller grip ones.

So I'm looking at a bunch of M&Ps and I found a few with 10 round mags. I noticed though alot of the M&Ps look the same, but different caliber and different stock number. I don't know what to look for when distincting differences in M&Ps and determining which is a better overall choice. Any help??

I found this starter kit. M&P 9mm Range Kit.

I'll continue to look.

First off 40 and 45 acp recoil are completely different... 40 cal is very sharp/snappy where as 45acp is more of a blunt pushing like force

The compact glocks are very nice and not much size difference with the fullsize it's mainly barrel length that changes

now if you're talking about sub compact then those can be awkward. I like them for weight and concealability and if the grip is too short they have companies like pierce who make grip extensions that also add the ability for 1 or 2 extra rounds... Subcompacts with grip extensions are bad ass you get the full size frame feel in a noisy cricket sized package lol (men in black reference)

Thanks for the breakdown LT. Really gave me an idea between the difference. For now, I think I'm going to stick with a 9mm just because of how cheap / accessible the ammunation is and because my pops shoots his glock17 more and wants to share rounds haha.

What I'm wondering about is this. I'm looking thoroughly at the Sig 2022 and the M&P 9mm. Here's what I'm lost at..
What is the difference between the triggers. Some say the DA/SA on the Sig 2022 is bad? If anyone can help explain the dynamics of triggers, that would help me out. I also heard that the M&P trigger weight is not a great "feel", so must of them buy a kit to replace it.

IM SO LOST. haha. People are saying though the M&P, Sig, and Glocks go head to head and whichever choice, I can't go wrong.

EDIT:

I THINK, note: THINK, I read that the 2022 can equip a flashlight / laser as aftermarket but i'm not sure if that's true. If so, can the M&P do the same?

1st off all of those pistols can equip Light/laser combos....

2nd Dual Action/ Single Action aka DA/SA means it has a manual hammer that can be cocked if you want. The dual action trigger pull will be heavier because it cocks the hammer and fires the weapon the second pull will be lighter because its single action meaning the hammer is already cocked so all it has to do is fire now... Its probably like 10lbs DA /5 lb SA pull or somewhere in that neighborhood

They do make trigger kits for the M&P but honestly the stock one isn't bad. I fire 500 rounds a year just for my job plus whatever I can afford to buy on my own 9mm wise

Hope this helps bro

Also learning good fundamentals of trigger control on a stock weapon will make you perform even better when you modify it...

My advice is learn to shoot it as is at first then change it up later on :)

  • 2 months later...

Edit: this only applies to california. Not the M&P line worldwide. sorry

Wassup yall. So I was looking up M&Ps to see if they sold CA legal with just the firearm which is cheaper and not including the whole shooting range package. But I came across this article. I don't turn 21 until after that date, but do I shoot with my pops. Im for sure going to buy a firearm as soon as I turn 21 (I'm 20) but this may cross that out for the m&p

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/01/daniel-zimmerman/smith-wesson-california-drop-dead/

I'm on mobile so idk if it worked but pretty much it says smith and Wesson is gonna stop producing all firearms from the m&p line except the SHIELD and another model. My question is, has anybody heard of this? Is it true?

And if it is true, is the standard M&P 9mm 10rd worth it to ask my pops to buy it now and transfer it to me when I turn 21? They said it'll takenplay around August but I'm not finished reading the article , just skimmed, so don't take my word for it. Any feedback would be nice. If people say it's not worth it than I'll just look into another glock for the family haha.
