SolerTuned
Upgraded my mids and highs to DS18! Huge difference over the PRVs. I would say that was because of the shitty hifonics amp, but regardless i am super satisfied with the new set up! we'll see you at slam! SolerTuned
Well the inevitable happened. Time to upgrade again. For this set up I plan to go balls to the wall. As part of my internship with DB Designs I got a chance to work hands on with some larger audio set ups. It inspired me to try out a 4th order. When David (owner) made me a net that we could fit 12 12"s in the old mitsubishi I thought he was bluffing. Now after some measuring and a little metal work, I've embarked on doing just that. For this build I plan on running: 12 nvx 12s 2 Vital Power 700.1s 4 D7500 Batteries 1 D3400 Battery 2 Mechman 370amp alts 1 Ohio 300amp alt 8 DS18 8" speakers 2 DS18 Tweeters 2 DS18 EXL2400s 1 DS18 EXL1600 It'll be a little while before I can run all this equipment. Especially with school starting up again. But I should be running these 12 12s on 1 Vital by October Team 2Loud @ Virginia Tech, Team NVX, XS Power Batteries, DB Designs Build logs: 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, 12 NVX 12s, 4th order, Vital Power 700.1, 158.6 dB Kick 1990 Honda Civic SPL Build, 2 DC LVL 5 Team 15s, 2 Vital Power 700.1s Follow my builds on Social Media! SolerTuned
The build has officially started! Removed the old box Took some measurements to confirm the space available. Looks like is should work out to a 2.5:1 ratio 4th with the 12 12s. Wont know 100% until I get the shell built. As for the battery bank, started chopping up the old girl. Took some 1/4 angle iron and built the frame. Its about 4 inches wider than the 4 d7500s, but that should give me room to run wires and what not There should be room in the rear for 4 banks of caps, which I plan on adding later. I had to re-route the exhaust and delete the muffler in order to fit the frame in. No worries, for a 4 banger the exhaust not isnt too bad and surprisingly its not too loud. Ran some Sky High 2/0 OFC, 3 runs of positive, 3 runs of negative. The factory grommet was just big enough to fit all six runs without touching the metal. Only issue is i had to run it through the fender. Its all screwed up into the metal and wont be going anywhere, and the tire will come close, but wont be touching it any time soon. Next I got to work on some fuse blocks. Rather than buying 2/0 fuse blocks, I found a piece of 1"x2" aluminum and got to work. I made 2, one for front and rear. Each has 1 common side, and 3 separated ones on the other side. This is so that each run of 2/0 has its own fuse-able section. Should be finishing up the battery box by next weekend, then hopefully start on the box Team 2Loud @ Virginia Tech, Team NVX, XS Power Batteries, DB Designs Build logs: 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, 12 NVX 12s, 4th order, Vital Power 700.1, 158.6 dB Kick 1990 Honda Civic SPL Build, 2 DC LVL 5 Team 15s, 2 Vital Power 700.1s Follow my builds on Social Media! SolerTuned
Got the fuse block in place. I put techflex on the wires for mainly looks, but it also holds against some heat and abrasion from the engine bay. The base is made out of plexi with LEDs on the bottom. When its hooked up it should glow blue through the fuses. Under this will (hopefully) go 2 alternators when I have the money to upgrade them. For now I'll be running just the 300amp alt in the rear. SolerTuned
Got some more work done this past weekend. Battery box is all welded and sealed up. Box shell has begun, all I can say is its huge. This box is almost 3x the volume of my box. All I have to do is more bracing then its getting started on the baffles. There are the 12 pretties waiting to go in Team 2Loud @ Virginia Tech, Team NVX, XS Power Batteries, DB Designs Build logs: 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, 12 NVX 12s, 4th order, Vital Power 700.1, 158.6 dB Kick 1990 Honda Civic SPL Build, 2 DC LVL 5 Team 15s, 2 Vital Power 700.1s Follow my builds on Social Media!
