How much would I be over paying?

There is a few things wrong I see

I don't see a point in having coaxial speakers with tweeters. Kinda a waste of money

The amp is overpriced

I mean the labor is somewhat accurate.

Wouldn't waste the time with labor. That's a 3 hour job if that. Head unit is already wired. The 8 gauge kit you already have could be used to repull a nice 1/0 kit with a distro block for both amps. RCA's, amp, speakers....all of it could be had on amazon alot cheaper.

I'm not handy with car audio AT ALL! So installing myself isn't a good option.

I'm eliminating the tweeters cause I also agree that it is pointless.

What amp would you recommend then? He told me that my head unit should be powerful enough to run the speakers since I'm happy with the volume of my speakers, but just want a richer, cleaner sound.

The problem with shop installs is that most of them don't usually let you bring in equipment for THEM to install. You usually forced into buying their overpriced equipment. In your case though I would really save myself the money on the amp and ditch it. Then down the road you can pick one up online for cheaper and install it yourself. The components should still sound very clean even without an amp

They allow you to bring in your own equipment. They install anything as long as you pay for install. And yeah I'm thinking about ditching the amp. It would make the SQ better but even without it, it would be an improvement from stock.

You should learn. Because once something goes wrong your not going to want to spend more money for someone else to fix it.

If they let you bring your own equipment I would look into different equipment and have them install it for you. Will save you a bunch of $

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.

You should learn. Because once something goes wrong your not going to want to spend more money for someone else to fix it.

While I agree it would be a good skill to learn, If the shop installed it, they will fix it no matter what, for free. If it is beyond repairing, they replace it for free. I know this because I've had to use their "Warranty" before.

Since I'm very new to car audio, what equipment should I bring in for them to install instead of installing their own?

You should learn. Because once something goes wrong your not going to want to spend more money for someone else to fix it.

While I agree it would be a good skill to learn, If the shop installed it, they will fix it no matter what, for free. If it is beyond repairing, they replace it for free. I know this because I've had to use their "Warranty" before.

That is ture of most good shops they will stand behind it for life and if its out of factory warranty they should offer a deal on replacements .It's not always about save a few bucks it's more then that .

for $1700 you can do a lot

So I'm not necessarily paying too much, just paying a lot. lol well good to know.

Since I'm very new to car audio, what equipment should I bring in for them to install instead of installing their own?

Its hard to tell you what equipment to get. There is a ton out there. Best bet is to do a lot of research and looking around seeing whats out there. This site is full of great info.

Hell you are from FL. There are a bunch of people from Fl on here maybe you can hook up with them and they can help you out
