Ahmed Johnson
Man I thought welding wire was solid, at least the excelene I looked at was stranded or braided. What is the disadvantage of using this shit?
Raptorman
Only disadvantage I can think of is it's not as pretty as car audio cable. 1996 GMC Sonoma Four Fi BTL Neo 18's In 2:1 6th Order Bandpass 2 Ampere 5k's @ .5 TEAM FI TEAM #LITHIUMCANTDEMO On 10/20/2013 at 0:37 AM, KillaCam said: Fucking with a Prius driver is like making fun of a disabled kid. SnowDrifter
The mistake people make when buying this stuff is they think wire is wire. Or they just look at the current limit and think it'll perform for them. Not necessarily. Gotta look at the voltage drop through the wire. Just because the current limit for a given wire might be 250a doesn't mean I want to run 250a through it over a 12 foot span. Meanwhile your alt is sitting at 14v wondering what the problem is and you're dropping to 12.5 in the back wondering why your voltage sucks with your aftermarket alt. CCA is only about 67% as conductive as OFC. Need to factor that in ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Ahmed Johnson
Ok so when buying the welding wire over the regular shit do the same rules apply? Example, if I'm looking for 5 feet of 0 gauge wire, do I order 5 feet of 0 gauge welding cable?
Wicks
I used radaflex and love it. Super flexible and reasonably priced. Got mine from http://www.cableyard.com/RADAFLEX-10-AWG-Black-Welding-Cable_p_12.html Has a double jacket and fine strands to make it very flexible. Make sure your wire has a high strand count which will help the flexibility. Broke_Audio_Addict
One thing that also should be stated is that quality car audio wire is often oversized like the sky high 2/0 is the size of welding 4/0. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
