Battery or alt first?

Recommended Posts

well his dropping to 12.9 with the extra battery it will drop to 12.9 but it will just take longer.. i think he is clipping the amp thats why he is dropping voltage and could be that the front battery is shot

i was just thinking of upgrading the front battery

That drop is pretty low consider ur alt size and power.

How was the amp tuned?

Lets say your batts are healthy.. if you add more, that wont change the initial 12.9v drop much.. if at all.

If you want to hold high 13s - mid 14s, you'd want to look into a HO alt.

im thinking he is clipping the amp.. the alternator is sufficient enough for that amp.. also his voltage reading could be very inaccurate. he dont even know where it wired too. its the stock one..

op. get a DMM and take the readings from the amp
