soundsystemaniac Posted January 29, 2015 Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 Okay, So one of my buddies got one of his friends in touch with me and had X budget for 2 12s and a 2011 BMW 335i He said he wasnt really too concerned with how it sounded as much as how it looks...But I am always concerned with how it sounds! So, within the budget, I wanted to see if he would be cool with used equipment so that I could use more of the budget for box materials and cool stuff We decided on 2 SA 12s. I found someone on facebook that was moving out, and needed some cash, So we gave him asking price for 2 SA 12s, Crescendo 2k, bunch of 1/0 wire, TM 1/0 to 1/0 inputs, XS 950 battery, fuse blocks, rem wire, terminals etc. Then I started in Google Sketchup with a design that I hoped would blow him out of the water. I couldnt really get sketchup to do any justice to what I actually wanted to do because I havent figured out how to model up plexi yet. The bracing is plexiglass, and I wanted to do edgelight plexi around the plexi lol. You will see! So, I cut some wood and dry fitted the box. Cut the baffles. Wrapped the inside of the box in red beluga vinyl to match the red interior Got the rear plexi window cut to size, Installed leds on the inside of it, predrilled, and countersunk screws. Amp and battery got installed in the well. Took some cool pics with my new go pro that I got for christmas! Then, I mounted the box and made some trim panels to make it look nice! I thought about doing a plexi aero, but It really just wasnt in his budget. The owner of the car is absolutely blown away by it...And so am I lol. It sounds good and looks good. I plan to meter it shortly. Sounds like mid 140s, But you know how the ear o meter works lol. I have a version of the SA12 in Sketchup that is more accurate if you want. Sweet work tho. What size port and what tuning is that? Seems like it would be tuned higher judging by diameter and length.
