1 run of 1/0 or 2

I would run a single 2 awg before a pair of 0 ga cables ...

Just saying

Just stretched out several feet of 2 awg for White Lightning yesterday to match what's under the hood.

For 420 amps worth of fusing?

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

I've never ran anything larger than a 200 amp fuse.

SQ or SPL. Never seen a need for it.

... And yes, I've had a few big systems In the past.

420A of fusing doesn't really matter, to a point. He's only going to pull whatever can be supplied from under the hood across the wires. 270A alt (minus some for the vehicle) plus the battery up front equals more than the 250A (at best) the CCA is rated for at 20-ish feet.

So, using 1/0AWG CCA, two runs of wire.

Cablguy, do you mean 2/0AWG? As I mentioned above, if you don't have a whole lot under the hood, there's really no need for it if you're grounding to the rear battery [bank]. If you're only chassis grounding, then there is.

Right but you should always wire for what your system has the maximum potential to draw not less than and assume oh well it will never pull that much anyways.

I would agree if you were saying use smaller fuses which is what I would do personally but not smaller wire.

Sorry but you guys are both wrong.

Are you saying I'm wrong by using larger, better grade cable than multiple smaller cables ???

Cause that's all I've suggested ...

Ok, so using the method you suggested, I would still be correct. I said two runs. So, either you didn't understand what I said or you didn't really read what I said.

Cars are a fairly simple circuit in terms of what size wire/fusing to use where when strictly talking alt/batteries/amps. If you lay it out, it's not hard to see where you will get what kind of draw. There's quite a few different possibilites.
