kryptonite
Alright so finally got around to "finishing" a build in one of my vehicles haha. I say "finishing" because it's as close to done without having the new alternator or battery racks built but it's sooo close lol. "Fighter Jet" reasoning will be shown through pictures, hopefully you get the meaning haha. Here are the stats: 2000 Ford Explorer Limited 5.0 AWD Pioneer 80PRS Custom switch/gauge panel SHCA RCAs, fuse holders, ring terminals, heat shrink SHCA Green and Black 1/0DC AUDIO 5K DC AUDIO 10k4- Soundqubed HDC3 10s 4 - 18" DC Audio Lvl 6 18s, full Carbon fiber option XSPOWER Batteries SINGER ALTERNATORS Anyone want to see some pictures? kryptonite
The beater Started with deadener, the headunit, the front battery and some wiring. My 80PRS, love this headunit, the control is phenomenal Some Infinity door speakers which have yet to get put in lol gettin there. Making 6x8 adapter plates to fit the 6.5s Yeah i know they look rough, i forgot to take a picture after i sanded them down, when they get installed i'll snap some more The girlfriend (now ex) playing with the SHCA RCAs Time to do some deadener Breaking the old factory crap out, it was cracking anyways My best friend helpin me for once instead of supervising haha Nevermind, the other surpervisor showed up, time to assume the role haha Finished cleaning up for the night DC SOUND LAB NUT HUGGERCurrently Own 4 - 18" lvl 6s (m3) w/full Carbon Fiber option 2 - DC 5k lvl 4 motor lvl 2 motor On 8/2/2013 at 8:13 PM, n8ball2013 said: this is much worse. kryptonite
Found some high quality, factory style 3M Sound Reduction Mat, used that on the floor in the cargo area. Got it at a discontinued price so i couldn't say no lol Headliner out, that was a bitch Hmmmm so as far as i can recall, a factory roof skin doesn't have primer on the inside... WHOO! Backyard hackjob ugh. It does have a salvage title from back in 2001. No info on why it's a salvage but i always wondered by there was a moonroof switch in the overhead console, there was white paint everywhere since the truck was resprayed black. Must have had a tree fall on it or been in a rollover accident. Oh well. Explains why the windshield leaks at the very top seam Temporary fix until i can get a new glass Letting the second skin warm up a bit. Double and triple layer in some places across the entire roof Hatch Caught him workin again haha Finishing the floor seams More hatch Hatch plastic so it doesn't rattle, much lol First time the interior has been fully installed again after a deadening session in any of my vehicles haha DC SOUND LAB NUT HUGGERCurrently Own 4 - 18" lvl 6s (m3) w/full Carbon Fiber option 2 - DC 5k lvl 4 motor lvl 2 motor On 8/2/2013 at 8:13 PM, n8ball2013 said: this is much worse. kryptonite
Time for some power! Trying to bring her back to life. Was completely discharged to 0.03 volts when i first put her on the charger, never heard a charger whine that bad before! She came back though, great success! Love these Rockford terminals! My temporary 4 gauge wiring for a temporary setup while i get things situated Junk amp on some JL W0s lol Who needs to know their fuel economy in a V8 explorer? Not me, perfect spot for a switch/gauge panel! This is where the nickname "Fighter Jet" comes into play. The guys at work thought it looked like a Fighter Jet cockpit at night, i'll go with it lol. Some 1/8 in ABS plastic should work... My favorite underdash lighting solution, Cold Cathode Lighting! Random terminal picture Not bad for a first time custom panel, have a few new ideas to do so this will get redone DC SOUND LAB NUT HUGGERCurrently Own 4 - 18" lvl 6s (m3) w/full Carbon Fiber option 2 - DC 5k lvl 4 motor lvl 2 motor On 8/2/2013 at 8:13 PM, n8ball2013 said: this is much worse. kryptonite
Custom fuse holder panel up next, very crude but again new ideas flowing so it'll get replaced Nuts and bolts from my RC Truck hobby lol Work perfect for holding the fuse holders to the panel Some insulated cable clamps for the ground cables to run parallel, neatly with the power cables from the alternator. Some SHCA goodness! Some more Cold Cathodes, to be used later on in the build Toolmaker Goodness Kinda looks factory....haha My trusty crimper, love this thing Temporary ring terminals for the power since a quad terminal won't fit on the factory alternator. Not wasting the SHCA heat shrink on a temporary fix lol Ground terminals will stay the same when the new alternator arrives so that'll get done right the first time Someone decided it'd be a good idea to build a fire hazard, i mean a nest under my intake manifold, evicted! Setting up for the front to back runs once i get the battery racks in and the alternator installed Good spot to run, right above the frame rail, out of the way DC SOUND LAB NUT HUGGERCurrently Own 4 - 18" lvl 6s (m3) w/full Carbon Fiber option 2 - DC 5k lvl 4 motor lvl 2 motor On 8/2/2013 at 8:13 PM, n8ball2013 said: this is much worse. kryptonite
Supply time! Gonna use this for holding some wires up in the box Counter sink inserts for the exterior of the box 1 1/2" dowel for bracing inside the port Quarter round trip for inside the corners of the box, tried to cut down on dead corners as much as possible, didn't really follow through on this but did some lol Never have too many straight edges in different lengths Top baffles Corner trim pieces, about as much as i really felt like screwing with, more trouble then it was worth i think Counter sink inserts glued and drying, soon to be sanded down for finishing Screws to hold the subs in, these should work relatively well lol White for the box Back wall to vertical support brace, this should stop any flex that should happen on the back side Some lines What are those for??? Maybe some more port holes?
