rambronco
Sound quality is more dependant on the full install then simply a class of amplifiers. In fact (never proven) it's been said and tested by someone who was or might still be a big contender in sound quality (don't remember the guys name). He set up a blind test for people to figure out quick amp was which using amps from several different companies and types. Using an eq to adjust for a flat freq response for all the different amps and no one could get more then a 50%. However if you have 4 choices and randomly guess there is a high chance of guessing 2/4. The testing was never returned as proof to the theory but can be argued as a liable source of info. Wish I still had the link. Now with that said effiency is more important. Less strain on your electrical meaning less money spent on electrical upgrades and more spent on key elements of sq such as speakers, sound processors, testing speaker location, sound deadener of all types and time spent on an rta to adjust for the flattest freq response you can get. Richard Clark was his name, and was the king of SQ back in the day with his grand national. I too have been looking at big class AB amps. Now back in the day Orion and PPI were my favorite amps and neither company is what they used to be. Might want to take a look at the new Orion's, there are 2 different lines, XTR & HCCA that have some large multi channel AB's, some of them being CEA-2006 compliant. As mentioned not the quality company they used to be but maybe worth a look. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Orion-XTR2000-4-4-Channel-4000W-XTR-Series-A-B-Car-Power-Stereo-Amplifier-/331185150376?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d1c2c59a8 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Orion-HCCA2000-4-2000-4-2000W-4-Channel-Car-Audio-Competition-Amplifier-Amp-HCCA/281605818878?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D8113f4fadb274061a886b1236deee55b%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D331185150376 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORION-HCCA4000-2H-8000W-2-CHANNEL-CLASS-A-B-HIGH-CURRENT-CLASS-H-COMPETITION-AMP-/171685307943?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27f93de627&vxp=mtr 01 Chevy Silverado X-cab 2 Sundown Z18v4 walled on 2 Lanzar Opti 7k's strapped at 1/2ohm = each amp wired to 1/4ohm. Havent checked impedence rise so not sure what they are actually seeing. 6 group 31AGM's. 2-Eclipse 34230's each one running 2 Eminence 6.5" Beta 6A. These are beastly mids rated at 350w program power. I was skeptical but the eclipse amps are 370w x 2 and when there was 4 mids on 1 amp I could push it into thermal protect within a song so added the 2nd amp. Eclipse 4212 running 4 CT sounds Meso tweeters. and 2 DLS ultimate tweeters up high to raise the soundstage. 96' Ford F350 4wd 4d long bed 7.3 diesel with 91k miles. Will be the sound quality rig if I can ever find the time.
bighossf150
then get one and dyno it!!! Why would any of us waste our money on a shitty amp?
