Jhunt94
I have a 250 amp Mechman alternator on my 07 F-150, and I'm wanting to be able to bump up the output voltage. I was wondering if their external adjustable voltage regulator is my only option, or if there's other products that do the same. Not saying I don't want to buy Mechman's product, I just want to know all of my options. Quote 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. The alternator in your truck is a PCM controlled alternator, and any alternator not plugged into the PCM will at minimum turn on a dash light. I believe that there might be a tuner or two that are available that can turn the light off. Hope this helps. So does that mean I can't get a module that will change it? Quote 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. So does that mean I can't get a module that will change it? We have not done full in depth research of all the possible symptoms. Feed back that we have had is just the dash light. Different firmware versions could cause different issues, so I can not say 100%. Sorry man. When I was referring to a module, I wasn't referring to one that would fix the problem. I was asking if since that was the only problem, could I still get the the vcm and run it on the vehicle. Or maybe I misunderstood your reply. Quote 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. Kyblack76
People get lost on PCM. And thinking "turning up the voltage" will help. If you can maintain 13.7. GOOD. The VCM will only up voltage. Not amperage. So if you are at 13.8 ... Turn you volume up. And drop to 13.0. Adjustin the VCM up a volt won't do anything. Not under load. I understand that, it's just that it gets on my nerves that in the summer that I can start out at 14.3 and then after having to stop and crank it again several times it'll fall down around 13.4, 13.1 if it's really hot. I just want to be able to put in on a voltage and it stay there. Quote 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. Kyblack76
No. You don't. When your running around 13.3 hot. Turning the voltage up a volt won't charge your shit any better. Why? Cuz the alt is putting out 4 amps. Upping voltage. ... Unless you can back it with amperage does shit. Charge your batts at 20v and .5 amp ?!? You think you'll gain anything? Kyblack76
I will say if your alt is charging HOT @ 13 v at working rev. ... I'd look there first. Turning "the voltage up" won't do shit. Quote SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
