snafu
We have (49) 15" 4 Ohm SVC subwoofers in our old school bus. We got so carried away with how many subs we could stuff in the bus, we didn't even think about how to hook them up. We shot our wad on wood, screws, jig saw blades, and of course subs and now we have no money left for an amp! Fortunately, our good buddy loans us an old school Series VII HiFonics Zeus he has laying around. Here are it's specs: 300 wpc at 4 Ohms 450 wpc at 2 Ohms 900 watts at 4 Ohms mono Who can tell me a sensible wiring scheme that will allow us to connect all (49) subs to the Zeus so we can use it while we save up the scratch for a dozen DC 9.0ks, a half a dozen Mechman alts, and a pallet of XS Power D3100s? [OK, if you know IMMEDIATELY, don't answer so that others may give this one their best shot . . . ] 2 Quote Tony Candela - SMD Sales & Marketing Email me at [email protected] to learn about becoming an SMD Partner! recockulus1
7 subs in series x 7, then parallel for 4 ohms. The 7 in series would make it 28 ohms, then after paralleling the 7 sets, it would be 4 ohms. FrankB
So here is the way I would do it take 7 series make 24 ohm then take the 7 banks and parallel them down to 4 ohms . Make sense ?

snafu
Exactly. You guys figured that one out pretty quickly. But what's the trick here? What can be learned from this?
