tboorn Posted July 20, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 first drive around to see if it worked, how it would sound, test to make sure the subs would take it. blew the dust cap off, although the glue job wasnt the best so i wasnt to worried, i knew how to fix it anyways.... ended up blowing the other one off to during the day, tore the whole cone apart because the glue was so good, but it still functioned, and my plan was to blow these, so time for round two, and then more bumping! Got 2 banks of Caps (3000F 2.7v), Ive been following all the cap rage for a while and have wanted them for about just as long, i just havent had the spare money for new ones and they hardly pop up used. Well finally some did and i have the extra cash so i was able to start my cap Bank, super stoked about this. Before the caps, i was running 1 x M3b with stock alt and 2 extra batteries, i could go maybe 60-70% on the bass knob while driving before id be in the low 11s. If i tried to go full tilt it would just cut in and out or protect. Now with just 2 banks and 1 battery under the hood, i can play full tilt for maybe 20sec strait before im in the low 11s on music, and at 60%, im chilling in the 13s all day while driving. In a burp scenario i can go full tilt for maybe 5 sec at idle and still be in the 12s (starting at 13.8 ). I really love these caps, and once i get my alt and 2 more banks, ill be running both M3b's again with confidence. 2nd. Got all new Sky High 1/0 OFC wire. Same as always i found some second hand for a good deal and finally got to cross that off my list. The quality and weight alone is unreal compared to the stuff i was running before. 3rd. I added a layer of 2x4s across the bottom of the box to shink it down to about 4cubes, and also cut the port so it would but 2 6" aeros 12" long, bring the tuning up in the mid 40s. i swapped out the N2s for my N3s, and decided to see what numbers it would do. Although it isnt near the best design for SPL, i was able to see a pretty decent jump. Im sure it had more in it but once i got this number i was plenty happy. My goal has been to do a 50 at least with 2 twelves legal/below the window line. Not the hardest goal, but for me it would be a first.
