I have 8 banks (soon to be 10) of 6 caps now so my max charging voltage is 16.2V. I mostly compete in IASCA classes which require you to have a battery under the hood. So I can't totally ditch batteries but I want to charge a bit higher to squeeze as much out of my system as possible. So my question to the XS crew is: can I run a d1400 daily under the hood but charge around 15.8v? Will this damage the battery over time or will I just see a little less performance out of it than if I were in the mid 16s? He has banks of 7 caps and is charging at 16.2. So a slightly different scenario. chris@xspower Posted March 27, 2015 Report Share Posted March 27, 2015 If you want a good charge into the battery then we would suggest the charge voltages be at 16.5-16.8 volts on your alternator. charging at 15.8 would be the equivalent of say 13.6v on a 12v charging system. this wouldn't be ideal overtime for the battery .
