I accidentally tried to put my headphone jack into my USB port, which is right next to the aux connection on the front port section of my tower. Shorted it out and the pc wouldn't start after that. So I knew all I had to do was just removed that USB connection and it should be good after that. I thought while I am at it, might as well clean it up. Looks so nice now.

Here is the before

My temps now are around 5-10C+ difference than they where before. Very happy, and it looks very nice.

  • 2 weeks later...

Nice cable management, that will help a lot with air flow and it just plain looks a lot better. I spent a good 2 hours managing my cables on my current system. It sucks doing it, but once it is done, you aren't always looking over at your case like "Man, I need to fix that..." every day you are on it. It took me a good 3 months to finally fix mine.

It made a huge difference in the air flow of the case. I dropped almost 10C from doing this. And because of that, I started OCing my GPU's to get the most out of them. Still iffy on the CPU because I have only heard bad about OCing intel haswell chips. Definitely nice to look over at it now, feels better now when I show it off than before.

It's luck of the draw on the CPU overclock. Best way to tell is to watch your voltages during idle and load times when the processor is at stock, it will tell you a lot about it's potential. GunslingerOCS that is on quite a few forums got one of those "golden chips." It was a i7 4770K and he hit 6.3GHz with it on LN2. It would probably break 5GHz on air pretty easy. I know I can run 4.6GHz on my i7 4790K without having to adjust the voltage.

Holy hell that is absolutely nuts. Yeah I really only looked into overclocking once I got this PC to find that haswell aren't too good for it. I haven't tried OCing my CPU since the first time when the cables where nasty and it heated up quick so I reset to normal. I could give it a shot again for the hell of it.
