When mine was pushed all the way back, I didn't gain much by sealing it off that way. It's all in the car, but like ninja said, gotta test and test. I removed my rear 6x9s when I ported thru the rear deck...didn't have to, but I ended up sealing the top shelf off with dynamat. My box is big, but then again I have some solid bracing towards the middle and the back. It does cost a lot of moolah to get loud out the trunk tho. I still have yet to get metered....one day soon!
