detecting clipping in songs

Is there a mobile app that could be used for analyzing a song for clipping or would a computer with a music editing program be the only way

audacity or windows media player you can set a live graph and you can watch notes that are clipping

Go to visualizations - bars and stripes - scope, using the scope visualization will show you if you have clipping in the song.

I use AudioTools on my iPhone 6+, but I use the microphone that came with my 80prs instead of the phones mic. It's like $10 but it's got some helpful tools.

There must be some sort of output level scope that will show clipping, but you're probably better off just checking the tracks in Audacity before going full tilt if you're worried about clipping.

A question I've wondered before is how much clipping is too much? Song songs have a few soft clips, but others clip almost every time the bass hits. I don't think a ton of new music has absolutely zero clipping.

I clip until I smell smoke. Fuck it! On the real, my shit set so if there is clipping it's minimal anyway.

Unless its clipping to the point its distorted then don't worry about it, a dirty signal is worse than source clipping
